Yep, at best amateurish, at worst, they were intentionally setting themselves up to have an excuse for yet another bad fight. They should s**** the fight and push for an early April match with Povetkin.
He gets 60k and then wins. He's then a 'world champion' and can tell Wilder where to stick his lowball offer where the sun don't shine. It's an easy way to pick up a strap and put himself on a equal footing negotiation wise with the top guys out there.
Ofcourse it's possible. I'm just disagreeing with the dumb statement that the 250K offer from Wilder's team is lower than the minimum bid
Who says wilder even offered that? Didn't the french guy get paid like 100k Fact us glazkov made the right choice he will either get paid more step aside money than he would have made fighting wilder or make more money figting Martin for the title. Bottom line is its Wilder's own fault he low ***** people
I thought beating Wilder was an "easy way to pick up a strap?" I thought Wilder was "a joke?" Glazkov could make close to a million if he actually went to purse bids with the Fury-Klitschko 2 winner. Glazkov could make $250,000 if he fought Wilder for the WBC "strap." Now Glazkov is dodging all of them and going for the $60,000 payday against Martin? And you're bragging about that?:hi: Glazkov ducked Wilder, Fury and Klitschko. Simple as that. If you voluntarily take a fraction to get out of a signed contract sitting in front of you ... it's a duck. And, if he fights Martin, Glazkov will lose. If the Glazkov-Martin fight is actually made, it's another terrible business move by Kathy Duva. Just awful. Glazkov isn't beating any of them to begin with. He might as well get the most money he can. Tell the IBF he'll take the step-aside money to let Fury fight Klitschko again. And then get 25% against the winner. Or, if he wants a "belt," fight Wilder for a quarter of a million dollars. If the WBC and IBF belts are just "paper" titles, then why fight the for $60,000 belt when you can fight that pathetic Deontay Wilder who sucks so bad?:-(
Deontay Wilder broke his hand against Stiverne, so he fought Molina in a tuneup for Povetkin. Then Povetkin said he needed a tuneup, too, so he signed to fight Wach in November. Since Wilder didn't want to wait for Povetkin, a week after the Povetkin-Wach announcement, Wilder announced he'd fight Duhaupas in September. The moment Povetkin beat Wach, he said he wouldn't be ready to fight in January. Povetkin wanted to push it back until April or May - which would mean Wilder would be on the shelf for eight months (since he last fought in September). So Wilder signs to fight Glazkov, the IBF mandatory and WBC top 10 guy, while he's waiting for Povetkin, and Glazkov pulls out because he's a coward. Or because Kathy Duva told him $60,000 is worth more than a quarter of a million or a million dollars. Wilder just wants to stay busy. Why all you guys would rather he just sit around for another five or six months waiting for Povetkin to work off the Christmas ham he put on around his waist, I have no idea. Who cares who Wilder fights next. He just wants to stay busy. If Wilder let Povetkin dictate, Wilder's last fight would've been Molina in July ... and Wilder would be waiting until next May for Povetkin to get his act together. You're b*tching about the guy who wants to fight ... and letting the guy who postponed twice (Povetkin - so he could fight Wach and now so he can wait until late spring to fight).
Buffet Vouchers and a few thousand dollars won't get quality opponents in the ring, SMH... And if they do, it almost get's him sparked out
I like most of the posts I've read of yours, and up till now, I've been defending Wilder too. Activity is a good thing. Duhaupas was an underrated hw, a legit stay busy fight. Molina was bad, but I can forgive one bad defense. But Wilder, by all accounts, is about to face another sub top 20 hw for his third consecutive title defense. (Unless he fights Stiverne, who he already convincingly beat). I can't find another example of that ever happening in history. That is inexcusable for a hw champ. I'm all for a champ or a contender fighting a lot, the pace is much too slow in the modern era. But if a champ isn't fighting top 20 opposition, its not worth doing and really brings discredit to the belt. All the reasons you mentioned are things that could have been either 1. anticipated or brought out in negotiations and thus avoided by Wilder or 2. irrelevant to Wilder finding a better substitute fighter. Perez, for example, is there to be hit, fairly low risk for Wilder imo, but a legit top 20 hw that no serious blogger could find fault with. But, whether for being excessively greedy, or actually being afraid of an upset, Wilder is not reaching out to such hws. That makes his title defenses a joke. If a fan hears "so and so" has three title defenses, that should mean something. It should mean they have a good claim to being a fairly dominant champ. All it means right now with Wilder is that you have a top 10 hw who's a big step above sub top 30 or 40 hws.
Every time a fight falls through, people on here blame Wilder, when in fact we don't really know what has gone wrong. But they seem to want it to be his fault. All I know is he has had two or three fall through, it can't be his fault every time.
Wilder = Canelo right now. Both are very close to being backed into a corner they have been working hard on avoiding for a good year or more. Povetkin and GGG are not going to go away any time soon. Excuses running Very dry now, especially for Alverez. In Wilders defense i do think he is alot more willing to face stellar opposition than the rest of his team and is trustingly being led through the division the biggest pu55y way around. Canelo on the other hands is just as cvnty as GBP. They all know exactly what they are doing in trying to avoid losing to GGG. But then dont we all.
As others have said Wilder is overrated but why did Potvekin need a "tuneup" before facing Wilder? If Wilder was such a can Potvekin should have just jumped straight into the title fight. All the armchair boxing experts call it an easy win for Potvekin but team Potvekin thinks otherwise
We don't know yet that Wilder is overrated. You got to give him a chance against the top fighters before you say that. You can't deny that on this board people look for every reason to bash Wilder, and make endless excuses for others. They aren't offered enough money, not given enough time to train, it never ends. He basically gets all the blame for delaying the Povetkin fight, when team Povetkin has done just as much to delay the. Glasgov pulled out there is no denying that as well.
He's slightly overrated but then again eveyone is afraid to take his belt. If he's such a glass jawed fraud as others have stated, why has no one stepped up to the plate and taken this easy challenge for the WBC belt? The truth is team Potvekin fears that their man is gonna get battered by an unknown, untested entity in Wilder and it will pretty much derail Potvekin for a long time.
