    For whatever reason they didn't fight it still doesn't change the simple FACT that the two best fighters @ HW refused to fight each other. Therefore, the vacancy created by Lewis' retirement wasn't filled until the Klitschko Povetkin contest...

    Rankings are subjective.. As everyone has different opinions.. Dominating the top contenders and unifying HW in a decade long reign of dominance speaks much louder to me than the opinion that the #1 and #2 are fighting.

    You are correct, rankings are subjective. Good luck finding someone who ranked Chageav ahead of V Klitschko. And as far as dominating the top contenders are concerned, Wlad never fought Vitali who was his chief rival during most of his time as the #1 HW. They never fought, Genius. Therefore, Wlad did NOT dominate the top contenders.

    Some did have Sanders above Byrd but not the ring.

    Noone had Chagaev above Vitali, in fact some had Vitali above Wlad.

    Yes, it hurts Wlad's resume a bit that the second best fighter maybe the best was his brother. But it is a unique situation there, and I don't blame them for not wanting to bash each others heads in.

    It doesn't change the fact that Wlad was the true HW champ for a decade. He did a lot more than Vitali, and will go down as the greater of the two.

    Wlad was never the true HW champ until he beat Povetkin. The #1 has to beat the #2 in order to fill the vacancy of a Lineal title. That didn't happen @ HW until Wlad beat Povetkin. This is a FACT.



    Actually no, he didn't. Fact is Vitali has the W over Sanders and that single win trumps ANYTHING Wlad has done before or since...

    Lineal champs get recorded in the record books alongside people with names like Ali, Dempsey, Tunney, Marciano, Holmes, Tyson, etc. Nobody keeps a list called "the #1 HW who wasn't the real champion".
