The utter stupidity in this thread is baffling... Wlad was THE HW champ for a decade. Lineal is not the end all be all for who the best fighter in a division is... Funny the poster arguing this is a GGG hater, who isn't the lineal champ of his division because the lineal champ is afraid to fight him at the weight limit. Haha

 

Sometimes, you run into people who really aren't even boxing fans. They really only come on here to stir the pot, and get under the skin of true fans who really enjoy the sport. So, the best thing to do is have fun with those people... because it isn't worth your time trying to make people understand something that they really aren't interested in. Only a fool would sit behind a computer screen and claim that the man who sat on top of the Heavyweight boxing world for nearly a decade wasn't really a true champ. There really isn't any hope for someone with that sort of outlook.

The only thing that they are interested in is being right, and they aren't going to let the truth or reality get in the way of that.

No one is debating wetter or not Wlad was rated number 1 for a decade, he was.

But could anyone honestly say beyond all doubt he was the best HW up until big brother retired?

When Wlad beat Byrd a second time he wasn't far removed from two stoppage defeats. His first big unification fight was Chagaev but he was clearly behind Vitali who was back by the and arguably number 1 himself.

Lineage hasn't always been a contest between 1 v 2, but it hasn't always been this disputed as to which belt holder is king. How can everyone consider Wlad the champion when at the same time he was boxing, Vitali ran parallel and was considered superior by a good portion of fans?

Is it fair to use that as a reason to not crown them champ? About as fair as it is for us fans to see brother tag team the most prized possession in sports.
