Finally did research on Roy Jones. He actually did avoid most of the top MW-SMW.

I'm pretty sure that Felix no longer posts here.

Regarding where you've said it appears that Roy wasn't 'The Man' in any of the divisions he fought in, he was definitely considered the best SMW in he world after he'd beaten Toney.

Regarding the guys you've mentioned above, they were all obviously good fighters who would have presented Roy with a number of different challenges. I would have loved to have seen those fights, although Maske had retired by the time Roy had entered the division and Tiozzo was up at CW.

Regarding your final point of Roy not having beaten any better LHW's than the guys you've mentioned, in my opinion, Tarver definitely belongs in their company.

This is what I always point out.

Roy's resume stacks up to just about anyone's, who fought in the same weight classes, in the same era.

He's got a very good resume.

Off topic, I just found out that Virgil Hill fought earlier this year.

    Did anyone see it?

Can't argue here. I have said it before and I'll say it again, Roy Jones was also a pound for pound businessman when it came to avoiding risk.

Was he now so you put no blame on anyone else but Jones huh

Liles turned down a career high pay day to fight Jones we know that's Jones fault

Chris Eubank is on record saying he had no obligations to fight Roy and it would have been suicide but it's Jones fault

HBO bent over backwards to,try and get Darius to agree to a fight with Jones but since he refused it was Jones fault

I always loves these threads half the people that call Roy a ducker have no clue as to what went on ..But please continue with trying to re write history .

Liles was one of many to turn down a fight with Jones in late 1996. Many were offered career high paydays. Jones ended up fighting McCallum and staying at 175.

    You can't argue?

It's just a BS troll post that's full of inaccuracies that doesn't allow for any circumstances.

I could shred it to pieces, but there's no point because Felix doesn't post here anymore, unless he has an alt.

It's a complete myth that Roy avoided risk and only sought out weak opposition.

Who cares if RJJ got caught with PEDs?

The reality is that the majority of athletes are using PEDs. You're naive if you think otherwise.

Roid Jones' useless fanboys are more clueless and deluded than ever.

Roy made a mistake there that he rectified at a later date. He didn't mean to say Reggie, he meant to say Joe C. The first video of yours is from 1996, and what Collins is referring to, is when he got in the ring with him in 1999 after he'd beaten Ricky Frazier.

After brief talks, Roy was steered towards fighting Reggie Johnson to unify the LHW division. Lou DiBella of HBO wasn't interested in a Roy-Collins fight at the time. But he stated that if Collins fought Joe, then the winners could potentially meet the winner between Roy-Reggie. But Collins wasn't interested.

You've got to give Collins huge credit. He really wanted Roy. But he's deluded. "The two best fighters of the era" ?

He was a WBO champ in the mid 90's, with his claim to fame coming on the back of beating faded versions of Benn and Eubank.

In 99, he hadn't fought for 2 years and he wasn't even ranked at LHW. You would have ripped Roy for taking the fight and you know it.

The truth is, he got left behind. It doesn't affect Roy's resume at all. He beat better fighters than Collins, and he also tried to fight better fighters than Collins. But keep hating and I hope you have a great Christmas.
