Should Wlad have retired at 38?

    If he had done then he'd not have fought and lost to fringe contender fury, and a fledgling contender would not now be holding the titles in such an embarrassing manner. This has somewhat devalued the HW title(s).

    Instead the titles would have been fought for in bona fide eliminators. Surely forcing someone to unify would have been better than handing them to a clown.

    If he loses the rematch he should retire. If he wins he should retire or have one more farewell fight.

    Nah, Wlad looked past it in his last couple of fights but to retire just off that would probably have left him with a feeling of "what if?", it didn't look at the time like anyone would beat him.

    Not because Wlad was looking so great but more because the division didn't seem to have a worthy challenger other than Joshua in a couple of years.

    In the end, it's good we see a torch passing as well, if Wlad retired without losing, the new era of heavyweights would have lost some legitimacy.

    let me get this straight, you'd prefer an old guy to get beaten up just because you feel it should be so?

    do you not think its poor torch passing to hand it to someone whos best win is a fringe contender, therefore making him a fringe contender himself? Its a somewhat fake torch pass.

    He should have retired after povetkin, or jennings fight the latest , because in povetkin fight it was abvious he was slipping and in jennings fight he was shot . I guess he's trying to make as much money as he can and does not care about his legacy that much

    yes this makes more sense to me, to tighten his legacy instead of including stupid roy jones style losses.

    Why are you putting words in my mouth? He didn't get beat up he lost a boxing match and you're exaggerating his age.

    Gatti vs Alfonso Gomez, that's an old guy getting beat up.

    I don't think he has any chances to win the rematch and even if he will win , he will not retire , but most likely will go for another 20+ mil payday and wilder, povetkiin are bigger punchers than Fury, so he would get knocked out. Btw wlad from 4 years ago would knocked fury out , or UD him for sure.

    why am I exaggerating his age when all of his predecessors were retired from hw title fights by his age?
    Seems to me its YOU who isn't factoring in his age properly, since all of hw boxing history is against you.

    Fury beats any version of Dr. Octopuss. When Wlad can't hug his opponent to death he struggles badly. He finally came up against a guy his size with skills and lost. Simple as that.

    I hope he reitres for his healths sake. I don't want him succumbing to crippling injuries like ali.

    well we cant comment on that since we don't know what would really happen, but its nice to hear your opinion.
