Bryd drawing with Golota doesn't mean he loses his #2 ranking. Especially when you consider the fact that he has a win over the #1 guy.

 

This is simply not true. I guess you've never heard of guys like Sonny Liston and Archie Moore. Floyd Patterson ducked Liston for YEARS. Archie Moore had to wait 10 years and until he was *40* years old before he could get a crack at the LHW title...

I used to always go with Chagaev, but over the last year or so I really have had no answer for the simple response, "yes, but Vitali was ranked #2. Not Chagaev."

However he clearly won the vacant lineal title at latest against Povetkin in 2013.

 

Some people don't know their boxing history. At all.

 

It was the 2 top contenders going for the belt.
But it is only a magazines opinion and I have often questioned their ratings.
Why are you basing so much on them. Its someone elses opinion and not gospel.

 

Vitali retired.... Wlad beat Peter when they were both considered to be the top 2 contenders in the world. Wlad then beat Byrd, who was the #1 Heavyweight and the longest standing Champ in the division. From that point on... Wlad was clearly the true champ. What he did following that only further solidified that fact.

 

That's what the General section is all about. Raving idiots who are completely clueless about the sport of boxing...

 

the problem is hes shared the defending with his brother where they each see fit.

its a bit like claiming that if George foreman had a brother called larry holmes-foreman got larry to avenge his losses so that George could come in and pick up a title later, then foreman would have been a champ from the 70s all the way through to the 90s.

 

They should use that as a heading for the General section

A vacancy of a Lineal title can only get filled when the #1 and #2 fighters in the division meet to determine who will be the new champion. Wlad vs Byrd II did NOT meet that criteria. Crack. Stop. Please.
