I personally think that this would be an intriguing matchup, given the fact that both have unorthodox and akward styles. Both Fury and Vitali, although not as athletically gifted as boxers like Roy Jones, prefer to fight like him, with their left hand low.. What are your thoughts on this hypothetical matchup???
Vitali would beat fury Let us not get mixed up Wlad and Vit. Wlad has no confidence in his chin not surprised after Corrie Sanders and has no " Killer Instinct " devil or menace in him. Vit is completely different , solid chin . and had a load of fighting heart in him. He wanted to fight , hurt you and would ! He wouldn't be **** scared like Wlad was to take a shot off Fury . A level above Wlad really. And he was clearly beating Lewis the cut stopped the fight and Vit was very eager to carry on. The cut was a let off for Lewis really.
Vitali by late stoppage, but great fight. It would still be great, I would much prefer to see this now than Fury-Wlad 2.
I really think this would have been one of the most interesting and exciting fights ever. VK's style is impenetrable against smaller fighters, but has holes against larger ones. That said, he has great volume punching ability, stamina, arguably the greatest chin all time and top rate power. I think a prime Vitali hits Fury at least as much as he gets hit, but takes it much better and wins by mid to late stoppage in an action heavy, bloody fight where both show great spirit. I think a more interesting fight would be old Vitali against Fury. To me, its still a 50/50 fight that would have the potential for the ultimate drama. Its doubtful he'd do it, but I'm hoping Vitali decided to come back for one last fight against Fury.
Vitali's got better: Chin Reflexes Power Volume punching Strength Fury's only got better size and movement. Maybe resourcefulness, but time will tell on that. Not enough imo. I could see Fury losing to Corrie Sanders and Sam Peter. I think the Chris Arreola that Vitali faced would have had a good chance too. Now, if Fury beats Wlad again, Wilder, and Povetkin, and stays a dominant champ for a few years, I'll change my mind on that. Until then, he's got a long way to go.
They could fight 10 times and Fury wouldn't come close to winning a single one of them. I find suggesting anything otherwise laughable.
From your lips. I'd probably pay a thousand dollars to crowdsource if it would help make that happen.
Problem being everything in between. Also, Vitali's losses are the best of any ATG in history. Actually, that would be a good thread. Seriously, no ATG has ever had losses that reflected as well upon his H2H ability as Vitalis. He was winning both fights, one against a top 5 ATG and another against a top 40, before injury. Vitali's losses are better than any of Fury's wins except for Wlad.
Can't see anyway Fury beats Vitali, who had a great chin and a high volume style. He wouldn't have a problem letting his hands go against Fury at any point of his career. I'd confidently pick Vitali even at 40-41 to beat Fury. Based on what we've seen recently his style aged a lot better than Wlads did.
Byrd: significantly bigger than ATG's including Frazier, Marciano, approximately same size as Liston and Tyson. Lewis: an ATG at a peak age for SHW's. Both being beaten by Vitali before stoppage. Vitali proved no heart issue against Lewis. Only a manic depressive psychopath who drifts between lucidity and imbecility can make your claims. Oh my God.
