I know Marvin was a middleweight but could he move up to 168 and beat Ward?

no, hagler was greater pfp,but h2h he could not overcome the naturally bigger man(who is skilled as well, not just bigger)

Yes. And he would knock him out. Ward has nothing to deter Hagler, only a head to make him mad

I agree 100% I have seen none of the greatness Marvin possessed in Ward.

Watching Andre Ward systematically destroy a bigger light heavyweight in Chad Dawson was one of the most chilling and intimidating performances I had seen in a long time to that point. I actually felt sorry for Dawson, as I was hoping that he'd eventually clean up the 175 lbs class and claim lineage.. But after getting battered by Ward I knew it would never happen and in truth I think that beating wrecked him. Andre hasn't had too many fights but he's certainly beaten quality men and in pretty decisive one sided fashion.. I think he was bigger, stronger, faster AND a better boxer than Marvin which would be a hellish combination to overcome... Marv never moved up to face a formidable opponent with a physical advantage. Most of his best foes were stepping up to face HIM, and in some cases while being past their best... Getting into the ring with a prime Andre Ward would be a totally new experience and not one that he'd likely feel at home with...

...You've convinced me. And going in, I thought Marvin had this.

Dawson was weight-drained to hell and didn't look impressive against Hopkins the fight before. Not a great win by any means - certainly means nothing when assessing a bout between he and Marvin Hagler.

Regardless. He was facing a bigger stronger man who was a well established professional in his prime and beat him half to death. And whoever looks impressive against Bernard Hopkins? Beating him was enough. Hagler losing isn't a given.. But I ain't placing money him..

Ward would win and was/is a better fighter.

Yeah of the current crop there are several that i'd NEVER want to be in the ring with. Ward is very much among them.

Marvelous took pride in being a middleweight, I can't picture him straying. He beats a green middleweight Ward.

Sharp counterpunching from a bigger man could deter even the most rugged individuals.

Ward's a LHW. A bit large I would say, even for MMH.
