Why don't boxer's use the 'Superman punch' more often?

Because it leaves you wide open and it doesn't generate a lot of power because your feet are off the ground. It's an MMA gimic basically.

 

When your feet leave the ground you are not generating power and driving the punch. The weakest chins in the universe would be bothered by this type of punch.

 

Because a boxer taking a knee would result in a standing 8 count.

 

For you guys that think it don't it generate power, it's wrong, Superman punch is actually a very strong and heavy punch. It's illegal because your not allowed to jump in the ring I believe..?

Like said earlier in this thread, it leaves you open, and it is slow, so your opponent can either move, or counter punch. So it's a stupid move, therefore it's used in WWF.

 

It's not as powerful as a normal grounded punch, there's no chance of that. You make yourself completely open, boxers aren't MMA fighters if they see you jumping in the air like that they'll strike you.

More importantly if you get hit like that, since you have no base it'd really **** you up.
