Compared to other current hws? I think Wilders power is overrated. Joshua, Wlad, Povetkin, Helenius, Parker hits harder than Wilder.
He's a decent puncher but not a big one. He looked impressive KOing journeymen but once he stepped up his power hasn't seemed so remarkable. Stiverne took everything he had and Molina lasted far longer than expected based off his KO loss to Arreola.
Wilder's power is probably a little overrated, but it is real. Fury is the most featherfisted of the top heavyweights currently.
I think he hits very hard but telegraphs and his opponents though horrible as title fights are better than what he was laying out They see his punches so they withstand them better
Helenius. Tepper. Price. Klitschko. Parker. Joshua. Wythe. Granat. Ortiz. Stiverne. Wilder Fury Fury Povetkin Haye Szpillka Pulev Jennings Arreola Thompson ...
Its real. He had Liakhovich on the canvas convulsing. Now I know the rebuttal is Liakhovich was over the hill, but it doesn't really matter to this discussion, chin rarely goes and no one else got rid of him that fast, not even Briggs or Brewster guys known for decent punching power. People indict it because Stiverne went the distance too, but first off Stiverne has an iron jaw, and second he covered up for nearly the entire fight and rarely let his hands go. And that's one man going the distance in 35 fights. Many of them were tomato cans granted, but still, you don't do that at the professional level without a good deal of power.
Got a good punch on him, power that needs to be respected. Though some of the heavy bombs take about half a round to wind up, somebody with fast hands would of hit him 5 times before they were in any danger.
Pure power and knock out ability is not the same thing. Even if Wilder KO's guys faster than Helenius for an example, no way in hell does he hit harder. Got better feet, and comes in and out of power punch range faster due, that's why he's a better KO-artist than Helenius.
