I think Benitez would out box him, he move his feet much more at 140 and was more of a stick and move boxer. He didn't hang out on the ropes nearly as much at 140, watch his fight against Cervantes. I think Taylor would catch him and make it a close fight, but the jab and movement of Benitez would get him the decision.

For a fighter as fast as he was Taylor was pretty easy to hit, where Benitez, not quite as fast was almost impossible to hit cleanly at that weight, hell he (Benitez) frustrated Leonard for 15 rounds until he finally got caught. I'll go with Benitez in this with a clear cut unanimous dec here. Benitez would be in my opinion just a little to slick for Taylor at 140. Or any weight for that matter if properly trained.

I think Taylor would beat him, outworking Benetiz down the stretch. To fast, threw to many combinations, threw to the body and great cardio. Benetiz could hit, but not hard enough to keep him off him. I could easily see Benetiz win to mind, fantastic fight

I don't think I've ever seen this one. I like it. Benitez was a master boxer. Taylor was fast and threw a lot of punches but he wasn't hard to find.

Benitez beat Cervantes, Palomino, and Duran among others. He fought well vs. Leonard before being stopped and vs. Hearns but lost by decision.

Taylor beat Brazier, McGirt, Aaron Davis, and others. He fought very well vs, Chavez before being stopped in the 12th round.

Benitez has a height and reach advantage.

Tough call but I'll take Benitez by close decision.

I too would pick Benitez. And as far as Benitez not being able to hit watch his fight against Maurice Hope.

Yup. Plus people forget that Mel wasn't a particularly hard puncher. Wilfred easy.

I like Benitez....he wins a decision over Taylor and hurts him too. I know Taylor would have his moments, but he ain't special like El Radar.

    This is easy to envision

Wilfred at 140 lbs. was a still developing fighter, despite the win over Cervantes

Taylor at 140 was in his physical prime

Taylor would be physically stronger and faster.

Unlike Cervantes, who went along with the slow pace Wilfred set, Taylor would set a very fast pace

He would crowd Benitez, get inside and make Wildfred fight off the ropes for much of the fight.

Benitez would not be hurt, but would be outworked.

    Taylor by UD.
