Vitali was shot when Lewis beat him. Byrd had already took his left arm and soul.

I may have to nominate the great Rahman as Lewis best win. The same Rahman, Oleg and Ruiz are 3 and 0 against.

He at least wasn't shot or dying from a shot.

Actually no, most of the media at the time outside of England thought he was ducking Byrd...it's mentioned in every article on the subject.

Lewis wasn't scared of him. Lewis would have fought Byrd if it was earlier in his career. But he knew he only had two or three more fights in him and he wasn't gonna waste one on Byrd.

Now Johnson was worth Lewis time.

These excuses are great keep them up.

Lewis best win was Briggs for the lineal title. There is no greater achievement.

Lennox didn't fight Johnson, so does lewis need an excuse for not fighting Johnson too as well as an excuse for not facing Byrd (or a vitali rematch even).

OR does your "these excuses are great keep them up" argument only work for you when it fits your Byrd agenda?

Lol I ain't been on in a while but I see you're still doing your utmost to tarnish Lewis and his career Mongoose. Good luck to ya :good

I remember Lewis and Manny Steward telling Byrd at a press conference he stinks the place out when he fights his boring and not worth their time. Or to that effect.

Bottom line is Lewis did'nt need him at that stage of his career when he was looking to cash out. As far as I remember nobody was clambering for that fight, like you say. Not saying Byrd didn't deserve a shot he was just poor business.

Do you deny Lewis wanted Johnson? It's a fact he wanted Johnson and that was his preference over the more well regarded Byrd.

How does that work? I'm posing the argument, you guys are supplying the excuses.

I didn't start this thread and I'm a late comes to it. Seems the quality of Lewis legacy is not only being questioned by me.

Lewis said it wasn't about money. He already cashed out, and wanted Johnson in a Staple Center fight they couldn't give away tickets too.

Maybe...just maybe he thought Johnson was an easier opponent.

    Lineal is weak now?

    Ok...

35 year old drug addict Tony Tucker, coming off poor showings against Tysons sparring partner and Tuesday Night regular Big Foot Martin. He was rated by Ring in the top 5, cuz the 90s were so deep.
