This would have been a barnstormer no doubt, would Marciano be able to do what Qawi couldn't and wear Holyfield down? I reckon Marciano would stop Evander late on.
Holy was so tough, and so well rounded, the way he took Tysons shots, Bowes shots, yes I know he was a lot heavier at that time and that must have helped but the way Holy took everybody's shots was so impressive. Rocky would have his hands full, the pace that Holy fought at 190 was impressive.
In the last week, it just so happens I've seen 2 Marciano fights (Walcott I and Archie), and I've seen 5 Holyfield fights (Qawi I, the Bowe trilogy, and Tyson I). Despite all that, I'm still undecided, however. I would merely add Holyfield's 3 or 4 inch height advantage would probably serve him well in this match-up, even in a losing effort.
I also think Marciano late. Holyfield's problem is that he could never avoid a tear-up. And having a brawl with Marciano would be fun ... while it lasted. Marciano had more stamina, hit harder and arguably a better chin, especially given that Holy had good, but not shattering power. I think that if Czyz could do relatively well for five rounds, Marciano would inevitably pull it off. Unless Evander decided to box more technically. Then I'd say that given his well-rounded skillset, he has a chance of outpointing the Rock.
Marciano wins by late TKO or decision in a great fight. Holy taking the early rounds and then Marciano coming on later. Holy was still a bit green at cruiserweight.
That's a great match up. Really could go either way. I think I'd fancy Holy on points tbh in a close one. Very well schooled and excellent stamina at cruiser. Yeah Holyfields extra skills would get him through for me. But I say that without much confidence. Rocky could easily out last or outgun him late.
As I think prime Walcott and Charles would give Marciano life and death,[ the older versions nearly did,] and I believe Holyfield beats both ,I must pick him to decision Marciano in a barn burner of a s****.
