I cannot give a talented fighter his full due until he fights an A level fighter

    Look we can tell or usually tell that a fighter has talent. But it still has to be validated in the ring. This hypothetical H2H stuff is getting out of control.

    At the end of the day it's about getting into the ring with other gifted fighters preferably in their prime or near their prime.

    I'll use Kovalev as an example. He beat Pascal badly who was B level. He fought Hopkins who's more than A level, he's an ATG, but he was 50 years old. Something is missing. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. And I like Sergey.

    Because you're never really proven until you fight an A level fighter. Like how Canelo fought Lara and Trout. Both of those guys are A listers. He barely squeaked by, but we know what he looks like against elite fighters. That counts for something.

    Same thing with GGG. We know he can knockout B+ fighters like Lemieux and Murray, but until he fights an actual A-lister we don't really know how good he is.

    Why do you think GGG for example is getting a lot of disrespect??? It's because he hasn't fought an A-lister yet.

    S****ty thread. Both 49 year old B-Hop and Pascal are superior fighters to Lara and Trout. I'm not even sure if I'd rate Trout higher than Martin Murray. The only top level fighter Canelo fought was Floyd and he was completely outclassed in that.

    the thing I don't get is...kova has a similar rep as ggg....maybe not quite the technician....but a similar rep

    and 49 year old bhop got in the ring with him...pascal did and got worked...and pascal wants to do it again.....yet somehow ggg cant do better?

    B-Hop is an all time great dude. He'd challenge GGG too if he could make 160. And I think the reason Kovalev is rematching Pascal is because most other contenders are reluctant to face him.

    @Anatolian....I suppose.....but pascal has to be down for it....and he is....even after getting pounded.....

    Yeah. But to be fair, Andy Lee and Pirog were willing to fight GGG too, but the fights were called of due to injuries.

    Yeah I sense an agenda here, you can't fault someone for who's around them... As the detractors of Kovalev and GGG seem to love doing.
