Bruno wasn't counted out against Lewis. Funny you mention Bruno by the way because Tyson knocked him out in less than half the time Lewis did. Golata had an injection of lidocaine for tendonitis in his right knee given to him by his physician shortly before the fight. It made him woozy and impaired his vision. The adverse effects of lidocaine include dizziness, blurred vision, seizures. As for Tyson, he doesn't even need explaining.
Yes, that was a funny fight for all Tyson fans. I sometimes just watch it again to get a laugh. And if I want more giggles I watch a prime Tyson against Douglas..now that was funny watching Tyson crawling around like a baby looking for a pacifier.
I disagree. Ithink the first class is Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Joe Louis and Earnie Shavers. Second class are people like Marciano, Tyson, ****ey, etc. I think Lewis would be in the third class.
Yes, but you would be wrong... You honestly believe that 185lb Marciano has more power than 240lb Lewis coupled with his huge reach advantage and you call yourself a boxing fan?
You are entitled to your opinion, and like your earlier opinion that Liston could cut off the ring, you are wrong. imo.
that doesn't make sense does it ?? Lewis' right hand is premiere league no doubt.one of Lewis' faults was his lack of conditioning sometimes and i don't think he jabbed enough.
Um no, more weight doesn't necessarily mean more power. Earnie Shavers for the most part, didn't even weigh above 210 pounds but he hit harder than Foreman.
Do Lewis and Liston share mutual opponents that can verify who's more powerful? Are there any sparring stories from fighters that faced both men? We know that Lewis had 30 pounds on Liston. We also know that Lewis beat up massive super-heavyweights while Liston for the most part fought cruiserweights. Sonny no doubt hit like a mule, but acting like it's some non-sequitur that Lewis hit harder is nonsense. If anything it's the other way around.
How so? And perhaps you should remember that this is in response to a poster who categorically has said that Liston is in a different power league than Lewis. So the onus to support that is on this poster, not those who object to this claim. As you yourself pointed out, Lewis fought and occasionally bombed out 225+ fighters, while Liston bombed out 190-200lb fighters, so how does this favor Liston?
Common oppenents said George hit harder than Lennox Lewis. Everyone who's faced and/or seen Foreman and Liston said Liston hit harder. Not to mention the fact, that the latter opponents faced PRIME Foreman and the former opponents faced the jelly donut. Johnny Tocco who trained Liston, Foreman, and Tyson, said nobody hit harder than Liston. And there's no way in hell, Lewis hit harder than Tyson.
weight, technique, and leverage all go into the equation. And if nothing else, you have results. Did Lewis bomb out 225-240lb fighters or not? The fact that he did, speaks for itself.
At what point, do results start to matter? I couldn't give a rats ass who said what, when I see a knock out, I see a knock out and it speaks for itself.
