George Formby, British Middleweight from the 40's.

Foreman said that as a kid he sparred with Cleve Williams in Houston, no doubt he learned a little from the Big Cat. I remember in an interview, **** Saddler said that he was trying to instill qualities of all the old timers into George. For example, Marciano's tear-em-up and kill em attitutde, Jack Johnson's ability to block and parry, and the thing he was having the most trouble with was Joe Louis's ability to snap punches off in short combinations. George never quite picked that one up. After the Ali fight, Saddler took a lot of heat, but all in all, he was a good trainer who knew what he had to work with.

The way he was stalking his opponent, cutting off the ring... I'd say he reminds me of Sam Langford.

That is no coincidence. Manager **** Saddler brought ex-champ Sandy Saddler and Archie Moore to teach George balance and leverage.

If anything I think he mirrored Frazier not Foreman.

You're probably right. As mentioned, I don't think his type of style translated all that well into the lower weights. His forte' was simply overwhelming fighters with his strength, power, and his unappreciated ability to cut off the ring.

I would say John Mugabi. Mugabi stood tall and stalked, then unloaded bombs once he'd cornered the opponent.
