Not surprising at all, I'm currently counting and joshua threw around 90 punches in the first round, around 70 in the 2nd, around 50 in the 3rd and he was loading up on all of them. That's over half of what fury threw over 12 rounds against wlad and unbelievably it's about the same as what wlad threw for 12. Hardly surprising he was a bit gassed, but he recovered fine and got it back, not too much wrong with his stamina on that evidence.

Heavyweights have to gas quickly relative to lower weight classes.

When you're that big your muscles need oxygen.

I actually heard from somebody in the military that they don't like soldiers over 200 pounds. Even if they are lean because it's harder for them to have the stamina needed for combat.

So I don't even hold it against Heavies for low workrates. Unless it's comparatively poor like Tyson Fury.

So that's why Wlad threw only 3 punches in 12 rounds. Finally someone explains sport physiology in terms even ESB posters can understand. I love this super heavyweight era.

I'm starting too think that superheavies are incapable of being TV friendly.

As much I think of lewis and Vitali they're just too big to be watchable. They just don't have the workrates for TV friendly fights.

I think you don't think before you speak. Not TV friendly lol.

Super heavyweights Lewis, Vitali and Bowe could throw more in four rounds than fury and wlad threw in 12. Lewis threw 30-40 jabs per round throughout his career, that's just jabs. Vitali and Bowe had great work rates for SH's.

You say "as much as I think of Lewis and vitali they're just too big to be watchable" What a statement.

"As much as I think" Don't think too hard eh!

Fury is even taller and heavier than that and he doesn't show any of the sort of fatigue Joshua does, nor are his legs as wooden as his. Joshua has put on close to 20 pounds of muscle since the beginning of his career, he should be cutting down not gaining more.

Fury also doesn't show any of that sort of power and explosiveness. Joshua threw far more punches and carried his knockout power into the seventh round.
    Think before you post.

Perhaps you should take your own advice. Fury usually maintains a high workrate in most of his fights. His last fight was was more of an anomaly, but then again he was fighting Klitschko and not an out of shape domestic level opponent. Still even when he's not throwing punches he's constantly moving laterally, feinting, changing angles, switching stances, moving his head/upperbody. If you've ever boxed you'd know this requires alot of energy.
Joshua does put his punches together well but his feet are rooted to the ground, he's stiff and he shows very little upperbody/head movement. All that muscle wears down on him.

It was simply a hard fight.

Put the punch stats up and see any other weight class throwing bombs from the start do too much better.

Not as much as throwing explosive punches though. Joshua is clearly a naturally more explosive, fast twitch type whereas Fury is the opposite. Much less explosive but probably naturally prone to have good stamina for a guy his size.

I think it's just his style. He could do with working on those things but I don't think losing a bit of muscle is going to turn him into Floyd Mayweather Jr. A boxer should always try to work on the things that he needs to improve on but they should also be true to who they are and try to make their own style work for them. Floyd made his style work for him, Golovkin is making his style work for him etc.

Fury threw very few punches against Wlad for a reason. His output was embarrassingly low only over shadowed by how low Wlads output was.
