Recently I've seen a lot of posts mentioning Tyson having a questionable chin. If anyone has any doubts about Tysons ability to take a punch: [YT]watch?v=d-SAXUVm7hA[/YT] From circa 1:30 onwards. Look at the BOMBS he takes from an athletic 240 pound puncher like Ruddock. Ruddock had ridiculous power in his left hook. Here's him putting Michael Dokes in a coma with one punch. [YT]watch?v=1stB1q7G4es[/YT] Honestly, I can only think of a few fighters that would NOT have been carried out on a stretcher if they took that beating. Tysons chin was pure iron. :deal
are there many people out there that serious think Tyson didn't have a great chin? Lennox Lewis was basically fighting Mike's chin for 8 rounds.
Well you're always gonna have boxrec warriors who think that getting KO'd means glass jaw, regardless of the circumstances.
Tyson's chin was solid, certainly - but there are guys with sturdier whiskers, like George Cuvalo, Oliver McCall, Ali. Tyson could take a punch, certainly, but he could be hurt, as the Douglas and Holyfield fights demonstrated.
Mike had one of the best chins in boxing history. When he lost to Holyfield and Lewis, he was washed up. You have to remember he became champ at 19/20 by 35 and after spending 3 years in jail and partying too hard, he was washed up. A prime Mike Tyson would have beaten Lewis, although I think Holyfield had the right strategy to beat Tyson even in his prime.
Mike had to be beat down badly to get KO'd. He had a good chin. He was never wiped out by one punch in brutal fashion. Look at Aldo, lmao, what a glass jaw. MMA chins are something else.
