I'm not for a second saying that fury is the greatest. What he achieved took everyone, myself included by surprise . However, after last night if I am fully honest I would say aj looks more likely to follow in prices boots rather than furys. Because there is no denying he was hurt, yes he did see the round out, but as I say- how many high level operators would allow the chance too. Whyte is in experienced so couldn't get the job done, many others would of. He can be nurtured into a world champ course - undeniable power - but, you cannot train your chin!! Simple as that

My point is Joshua is just as likely to end Wilder in round 1 as Wilder is to end Joshua in round 2.

Doesn't seem like Joshua needs to. Whyte is a big guy who is not feather fisted. Most of the top fighters could be hurt if he tagged them.

Whyte's power is overrated. He's KO'd nobody of note.

So your saying the fact that he took so long to recover (I have it at 4mins) isn't a concern? Yes whyte could hurt a lot,but would they all take so long to recover.. Or put it this way, if whyte hurt him - so can others & do you honestly believe the top level fighters would allow aj so long to recover, or pounce on him. Fact is a novice pro nearly had him out of there in that second, so a world level operator wouldn't waste that chance. Slow the train, address the defence issues or pay the price... Because believe me others would end that in a heart beat.. Derek chisora would of been all over that & is he still world class?

Apparently it took Froch about 5 rounds to recover from Groves knocking him down.

Like I said earlier, it depends on how hard the punches were. Maybe it's incredible that he was able to recover at all, maybe not it's difficult to know. I assume they were pretty hard punches as Whyte is a big guy and looks like a hard puncher to me.

Yes others can hurt him, Joshua can hurt others, Whyte can hurt others. That's heavyweight boxing.

Some would allow him to recover, others wouldn't. Some wouldn't get him in that position in the first place.

I don't think he did. Stunned him, hurt him a bit but he didn't nearly have him out of there imo.

Yes he still has improvements to make (as does every boxer) but in this fight the emotion could have played a part and made him fight differently to how he would against other opponents.

OP, Chisora hasn't got the power to trouble AJ & his chin has declined after Haye cracked it, he'll be a step down from Whyte.

This was Joshua's first real fight and he won. That should at least impress more than the other 14 matches which didn't prove a thing.

He will be a step down from whyte? What is that based upon, as I see it whyte cannot be compared to chisora - he has not been in the ring with anyone, we simply don't know enough about him to state whether chisora is a step down. Going off the facts, I would say chisora would of had a lot more success than whyte did.. His chin is declined since haye?? Nonsense..!

I don't get how people can say that whyte is better or has more power than chisora lol. chisora is proven fringe world class level whereas whyte is a bum with very poor accuracy. knocking out tomato cans is not an indication of power.

No not alone, like many on this thread my impression was similar. Poor movement, especially round 2, little head movement to speak of.... looked there to be hit. This has to be tempered slightly - a huge, pressurized fight for a 15 fight prospect etc etc blah blah. But in the sense that the vibe around AJ was that he is 'ready more or less now' to tackle anyone... then this performance didn't support that assertion. I think David Haye will fancy doing a number on AJ given how static and muscle-bound he is.

Biggest worry for Joshua, would be that the punch that that shook him inside out, was a nothing punch, a short left that travelled no more than 12 inches.

How would he react to a proper power shot from a real puncher ?

If DW went on and knocked out Chisora, then Price, then Wilder everybody would be looking back at this fighting with massive respect of what Joshua achieved, or quite the reverse if he turns into a journeyman - time will tell but right now, as they both were just 'work in progress' fighters nobody really can be sure what or what not to take from this fight

Turning away from all negative comments, great fight by both men, credit to them.
