1st thing i would like to say about the show last night is that it was worth the ppv money imo. exciting fights, upsets and an action packed top of the bill. but where do the boxers go from here?

    winners

anthony joshua: stunning ko, answered lots of questions but still showed he has a lot of improving to do before he thinks about the likes of wilder, tyson fury or povetkin. think he will need to lose some of the bulk and work on his head movement and would like to see him against chisora, helenius and ustinov before a world title shot.

dereck chisora: learnt nothing new about dereck last night, looked in decent shape but really needs to step up the class of his opponents. could see him against temper for euro belt and if he wins joshua vs del boy for the title.

chris eubank jr: was very impressed with chris last night, looks to have inherited his dads granite chin but is willing to engage in war better than his dad. think him vs daniel jacobs may well be a hagler vs hearns shootout. may the best chin win.

tony bellew: tony has found his level at cruiserweight, being euro champion is no disgrace but masternak is no world beater and tony just went life and death with him. great interview afterwards and although i feel he will get a shot at another world title i think he will be exposed.

    now the losers

dillian whyte: dillian will come again and has shown massive improvements since teaming up with jonathan banks. i have no doubt that if he can continue improving he can have a good career and maybe end up at euro champion and maybe sneak a world title depending the opponent he gets.

kevin mitchell: love watching kevin mitchell but his time at the higher level is gone an dim needs to either retire or get back to the domestic mix. i would personally like to see him retire.

luke campbell: ok so he lost last night, imo the fight could have gone either way and it was just the knockdown that was the difference. it reminded me a bit of the carson jones fight for kell brook (although kell won) where in the long run it will help campbell rather than hinder him. i personally think he should get to a coach that will start teaching him the dirtier side of boxing to help mix in with the undoubted technical skills. luke will become world champion i am 100% sure of that.

spike osullivan: don't really know where he goes from here tbh, he gave it the big build up and except for a round and a bit he was never in the fight. good chin and power but apart from that i was disappointed especially after hearing so much about how much better he was now he was fully focussed and full time from lencoreastside on here:patsch also if there is any truth to the betting rumours then i think his career could well be over.

thoughts on the fighters from last night?

Eubank does not have a granite chin. He was hurt several times last night, good chin, but certainly not granite.

Anthony Joshua: He should defend his title against Chisora. Then look to go after the European title. (Note Teper is no longer Euro champ. He dropped it because of injury and Robert Helenius will fight Franz Rill for it). Tony Thompson would also be a decent option if they can't happen.

    Dereck Chisora: See above.

Chris Eubank Jr: Go after the British title first (Nick Blackwell), then fight Jacobs. If he gets by them too look to rematch BJS. (If he's struggle to make weight, try and get a fight with Fedor Chudinov and beat both brothers).

Tony Bellew: Go after either Ramirez or Glowacki's belt. If the Creed movie does well he will probably be able to get them to the UK. If none of them happen Enzo Mac would be a decent domestic fight, or Afalobi for the IBO.

    ===========

Dillian Whyte: Bounce back with a journeyman or two then look to get a big domestic fight against either Hughie Fury, David Price or Dereck Chisora.

Kevin Mitchell: Either retire, or if he wants more money, try and make it on the domestic scene against the likes of Tommy Coyle or a Ricky Burns rematch, or the winner of the Cardle-Dodd rematch.

Luke Campbell: Bounce back with a journeyman, look to rematch Mendy, then go after a faded domestic guy (like Burns), and look to have his world title aspirations back on track.

Spike O'Sullivan: Fights with someone like Matthew Macklin or Eammon O'Kane will do decent business in Ireland, Andy Lee too if he loses next week.

Whyte has the tools, but not the engine. Some proper conditioning work, and he could move on to better things.

Mitchell is finished imo, he isn't able to compete at World level, and i don't think he could motivate himself to simply earn a living fighting bums.

Campbell is a trick one, i thought he'd win by a landslide, but he looked lost at times. Young enough to make changes, and certainly has ability.

O'Sullivan and his team should be dragged before the board, and the Police. I know lots of people who lost lots of money last night.
That retirement stunk the place out, hopefully we haven't heard the last of it.

I think campbell coukd be screwed becuase he has no inside game at all and can't handle pressure.

If you look at campbell in the am's his whole game plan was being about 4-5 inchesshorter taller than his opponent and fighting from the outside, he never had an inside game and got away with it over 3 rounds. He can't change the fighter he is,his never had an inside game

OP, Luke Campbell isn't 22-23 years old, he is 28 years old. I do not think after last night you can be 100% sure he will win a world title.

It wasn't a close fight last night in my opinion, I had Mendy winning rather comfortably, even the Sky shill Paul Smith had Campbell losing by a few points. The SD flattered Campbell, he was just walked through and out boxed.

Mendy didn't bring a bag of tricks with him, he held a high guard, walked forward and let his hands go when he was in range.

Campbell didn't have enough power to stop the forward March and at world level that can be a real problem depending on your style.

The knockdown was genuine, Campbell was hurt. Campbell was asked in his corner "was it a trip or knock down" and he replied "knock down". Mendy isn't a serious puncher, Campbell has loads to do to get near world level in my opinion.

i think you were listening to the drivel that was coming out of paul smiths mouth far too much during the campbell fight. yes it was a knockdown but he recovered and finished the fight the stronger. mendy was a good test at this stage of his career and i see a ud for campbell in the rematch. don't forget that yvan mendy was hitting campbell gloves as much as luke was hitting his.

mendy was fit strong and could take a punch, in the last 4 years he has only lost on points to viktor postol who just cruised to the light welter world title and edis tatli for the european title so he wasn't just someone coming for a pay day but a live opponent with ambition and it showed. great matchmaking and imo will stand him in good stead before he challenges for a world title, and wins.

he still beats crolla now, mendy was limited but i think he would also give crolla nightmares.

You were talking sense till the last part.

Crolla would beat Campbell up, and wouldn't lose a round against Mendy.

i really think campbell would manage to outbox crolla, crolla just doesn't put the pressure on the way mendy did mate. he would box a bit more and luke imo could use his footwork to not get caught in corners where as mendy just walked in with a high guard.

mend would defo give crolla problems but i don't think he would beat crolla. he would pick up a round or 2 though, mendy is used to fighting light welters and i don't think crolla is a massive lightweight.

Anthony Joshua - People coming out with Chisora, Haye and Fury - not a chance! Should go for David Price or Eddie Chambers next!

Dereck Chisora - Needs to step up the level of opponent and go target the European belt!

Chris Eubank Jr - Should fight someone like Sergio Mora before challenging for the WBA strap

Tony Bellew - I think Tony has hit his ceiling in terms of quality, Eddie will get him a World title shot but I'm not expecting him to win it

    --------------------------------------------------

Dillian Whyte - Rebuild, go after somebody like Gary Cornish and get a few wins under the belt again!

Kevin Mitchell - Retire or put it all on the line against Luke Campbell

Luke Campbell - Rematch Mendy or concentrate on domestic fights like Mitchell/Burns

    Spike O'Sullivan - Retire

And you have been listening too much to Nick Halling and believing Campbell throwing pitter patter punches on an opponents gloves is "World Class".

You just said "Mendy is limited".

Ok well Campbell couldn't really figure out this "limited" Mendy for 36 minutes and lost.
It wasn't a flash knockdown and bad stoppage type of loss, he was outboxed in his own country over 12 rounds by a "limited" boxer.

    :good

limited doesn't mean you can't compete at world level!! :rofl:rofl:rofl

steve robinson, paulie malignaggi, kotelnik, chavez jnr, arturo gatti have all held world titles and are limited.

he wasn't outboxed but i agree that he underestimated the strength of a guy who has been in with a world class light welter in postol. at some point in every pro boxers career they get that test that shows them what pro boxing is all about and why it differs to amateur boxing. he wasn't totally annihilated but found out that strength and will can upset talent if it isn't ready.

the over reaction to a split loss on here is laughable.
