MMA just keeps doing it to itself, how do people take it so seriously. These guys have limited skill, if the ATG best ever or whatever he is can get knocked out like that what does it say about the sport as a whole? Can you imagine Floyd or Ali getting knocked out in 13 seconds?

I'm sorry but this is just pathetic.

And let me guess, Conor McGregor is now the new monster/Rousey/Tyson rather than admitting that these guys simply ain't that good. Aldo lost having made a rookie mistake...

Classic example of the state of mma striking. Absolutely woeful...

Don't even get me started on weidman throwing a spinning kick and getting his face pounded in..all round pathetically low skill levels...but what can you expect when these guys have had so few fights against quality opposition...it's just bums vs bums. that about sums up mma for me.

Aldo is a pound for pound guy, but not the best ever. I didn't consider him the pound for pound #1 guy prior to last night, due to his 2 round gas tank. Mighty Mouse is probably the #1 guy right now. He is so technically sound. Aldo was more of the wrecking machine type. Aldo's punch defense has always been suspect though. Guys with good enough striking skills, usually touched him up. Mendes, Edgar, etc. Aldo's stand up game is somewhat straight up and down, more of a kick boxing or Thai style, rigid. You don't seem him duck out much after throwing the right hand like you see in boxing. He loads up, and prior to last night was able to get away with it against shorter opponents with short arms. McGregor is taller with more reach, so he was able to properly guage it. It was a beautiful counter, right on the button.

McGregor earned that Moniker so far. And he should keep it until he moves up to lightweight, where his height and reach will be negated by bigger men. Imagine what Dos Anjos, Pettis, or Cerrone would do to him.

    Boxing reject? LOL

    Conor was never a boxer.

Plenty of boxers have failed in MMA.

the fact that you had to make this thread just shows MMA makes you insecure.

As someone who has done both, Boxing gives you a lot of outs. You dont have to be clinched for too long, you dont have to be elbowed, kicked, or even punched with a real fist.

In mma you have to worry about not only a bunch of strikes from different places, but grappling as well. If you can't grapple you become rendered helpless pretty quick. MMA is actually closer to the original LPZ style of true gentleman pugilism than the modern rules. I can see why many would prefer boxing over mma here as it is very much the safer sport and easier to mimic being a fghter than actually being one through it.

There is a reason why top boxers earn tens of millions while MMA fighters get paid a few grand to wind mill and dry hump each other in their underwear.

If you think Aldo has "limited skill" than your a complete idiot or you've never seen him fight.

Ever year I see a new GOAT in MMA, it's so hilarious.

    Fedor Emelianenko is the GOAT!
    Anderson Silva is the GOAT!
Jon Bones Jones is the GOAT!
    Jose Aldo is the GOAT!

    2016 McGregor is the GOAT!

MMA has no history. **** sport.

He was never pro but I'm pretty sure he trained in boxing and failed at it.

only a few boxers earn that much, most of them don't.

UFC fighters are at least garaunteed a salary, boxers arent.

for every mayweather we have thousands of pro-ranked boxers who are living in working class neighborhoods and earning barely as much as a carpenter.

this whole "boxers get paid more" thing is completely overblown. Open a ****ing business book some time.

"Im p[retty sure" is the most re****ed thing you can say. You are on the internet. cant you just ****ing research something instead of blindly beleiving it?

"In 2006, at the age of 17, McGregor moved with his family to the South Dublin suburb of Lucan where he commenced a plumbing apprenticeship.[7] While in Lucan, he began sparring with future Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Tom Egan who taught McGregor how to grapple and ignited his passion for mixed martial arts.[8]"

So no, was never a boxer. he is reported to have a few amateur fights, but there is no real record. Anyway, it is clear he always had the intention to be a mixed martial artists, not a boxer.

    idiot.
