Lennox was slow on his feet, and similar to the Klitschko's in many ways, relies on his size and jab as the best form of defense. Neither of which would work against Joe Frazier who went almost 45 rounds with Muhammad Ali. You could in someways compare Frazier to Tua and Tyson, but that is purely on their physical appearance and style. All men were small fighters, fought from a crouch and worked best inside throwing powerful hooks and uppercuts. But what doesn't show up on the tale of tape is heart, grit, toughness and determination - none of which Tua or Tyson come close to with Frazier. When Lennox fought Tyson he fought an old, under-trained Mike Tyson who was for all intents and purposes 'fighting for a living.' And Tua was always overrated, he was just a fat Samoan dude with cool hair who could punch very hard. Both men fell into the trap of fighting behind Lennox's jab, bad move! From here Lennox can dictate pace and also use his superior reach to set up his left hook or monster right hand. Frazier would never stay behind the jab, he would never give in like Tyson and Tua did and he would never stop coming forward. Did you see how gassed Lennox was after 5 rounds with Klitschko? That pace is nothing compared to what Frazier would put on Lennox. He'd have his head on his chest 24/7 drilling lefts and rights to the body for the entire fight, no way Lennox can fight successfully off the back foot and try to keep Joe at bay for the full fight - he didn't have the footwork or stamina for it. Joe Frazier KO8 Please note. When I wrote Joe Frazier by draw, I meant Joe Frazier by Decision in the poll
Sure let's use the 37 year old version of Lewis to make a H2h comparison against another fighter in their prime. Where's the poll option saying Swagdelfadeel is an idiot cause that's my answer to this question.
I always liked Smokin' Joe, but this a terrible matchup for him; someone has a problem with Joe! Lewis loved fighting the 'vertically challenged'; Frazier is being annihilated in maybe a more spectacular fashion than in the first Foreman fight.
The left hook wasn't a a particularly useful tool against Lennox Lewis who's primary nemesis were good right handers. A big puncher with an excellent jab to go along with 6 inches in height and 40 lbs in weight would make short work of Joe Frazier.. This is a mismatch.. Lennox Lewis KO 3 Joe Frazier.
You're calling me an idiot because I'm apparently (according to you) using an ancient Lewis for H2H comparison. You even stated Lewis's age! But you won't however when he was at his peak. :think Don't worry, I'll save you the trouble. :good He was prime in 2000. He was less than three years past his prime at that point.
Lennox in whichever way he wants. Tua gave up the fight after eating a few of Lewis's bombs, Frazier doesn't and pays for it
Big fan of Joe, but this is a tall order for him. He'd be giving away 6" in height, 11" in reach and 30lbs in weight. The closest thing to a big man he ever beat was Buster Mathis, who was better than credited, but still a level below Lewis. I don't think Lewis would blast him out like Foreman did but he would punish Frazier coming in and whenever he did get through, Lewis would just tie him up and lean on him until the referee breaks them. Lewis by late stoppage.
Lewis by stoppage or KO could be early or mid rounds depending on the mood of Lewis and how he viewed Joe as a threat. Fraziers key weapon the left hook, Lewis nearly always negated well in his career. Lewis' right uppercut would be a nightmare for Smokin Joe. Not to mention the size. Love Joe btw but bad match for him.
Lewis' physical prime was from 95' - 98' IMO. Put weight on purposefully but was still fast and agile for a big man. He had a good 99' - 2000 results wise but was slowing by then. Technically very good and well seasoned but physically slowing down.
