I say a fighter has a good chin if I see him get caught flush and still standing, I have seen that with Wilder. Of course anyone that gets caught will stumble, as Wilder did, even an iron jaw Mike Tyson would stumble but Wilder still stood and fought back, just as Joshua did when he got caught with a shot to the temple in round 2 of the Whyte fight. These 3 fighters have good chins, just because you stumble for a bit after a clean shot doesn't mean you have a glass jaw. A glass jaw is when you get tapped and fall to the ground and don't get up, a great example of that would be Bruce Seldon, Tommy Morrison, Wladimir Klitschko.
Wilder has been knocked out in the amateurs (multiple times I believe as well), has been wobbled by subpar fighters one of which his team is actively trying to remove evidence of. Does he necessarily have a glass jaw? No. Good chin? Probably not.
I really don't put too much emphasis on amateur fights. Especially when a guy was new to the sport and still learning... look at Joshua vs Whyte and compare their amateur fight with their pro fight, night and day. So whatever happened to Wilder as an amateur and I seem to remember it was a knockdown not a knock out, doesn't matter. Being wobbled by getting caught flush and still standing and fighting back few seconds later counts as a good chin in my book
Well in my book not getting wobbled from punches landed by mediocre fighters every other fight is an example of a good chin. They use bigger gloves + headgear in the amateurs, if anything that's even more proof of suspect punch resistance. Of course it matters, how freaking silly. How weird, there's all the evidence to the contrary yet you choose to believe that Wilder has a good chin, I understand some guys go purely sometimes off style like "This guy boxes defensively he must be protecting his suspect chin" that I see people do when there's no evidence of it which is wrong. This is just ignoring facts.
He got up but never recovered enough to turn the tables. That would show a heart that Klit never had.
Claiming he's the next dominant HW champion might be a little rich but he'll be a contender at the very least. When I watch him, what I see is the bigger version of Chris Byrd with heavier hands.
This ain't the amateurs, and Joshuas no longer some green novice fighting much more experienced fighters. Joshua destroys these guys that beat him in the AMs with ease. Usyk would be lucky to last 3 rounds.
If Usyk tomorrow move up in HW, he will be in top five. I expect him to become undisputed HW champ till 2018. He is very skillful, fast, awkward, excellent chin, stamina, and heart. And, he is taller than Evander...........
