Feather fisted? I'm sure if that was the case he'd have plenty of people wanting to take him on for his rankings... Variety of punches? Out of the prospects he has one of the top varieties of combinations out there. Varies his shots from left to right to body and head. In regards to working his way up, he's nearly there with an expected chance of becoming the #1 mandatory by the mid to late 2016.
:good Good man! Someone who can put together an educated post without an agenda. 100% agree. At this stage of their careers, I have AJ in front of Joe. But the nonsense posted above about his lack of foot speed, chin and power is laughable. Some of you lads need to have good look at your emotional connection to your favorite fighters :rofl:hi:
There are some other kids coming up, Jarrell Miller looks a good prospect who can't be far away from Parker and Joshua.
You people are ridiculous. Parker has literally beaten no one much above club fighter level. His resume so far makes Wilder's or Joshua's look like a murder row.
Not really. So far the level of journeymen Parker and Joshua fought are on par, maybe with the exception of Whyte, we need to see more of him to now for sure. And far above Wilder's, with the same amount of fights. But Joshua looked more promising in the Whyte fight, then again Whyte is still kind of a question mark
Whyte was more than a question mark. He rocked him badly with one right cross that wasn't even a clean shot and had him in some trouble from a couple of body shots. On reflection, Chisora if in shape and motivated can do the same and make opportunities. it won't be like the Fury fight anyway.
There are some seriously off base opinions in this thread. Parker is a phenomenal prospect with incredible talent, no matter what you might think of his opposition thus far. The way some of you talk about him it's like you've never even seen him fight. His punching power is immense; his hands are some of the fastest and most explosive in the division and he puts together combinations like a demon. He already has numerous one punch knockouts on his record, so I have no idea where the idea comes from that he lacks power. Even if he doesn't knock you down with one shot, his combinations are so brutal that you no one's really had a chance to survive. He can also box extremely well at range. The durable Williams was a great litmus test that showed he could fight hard and smart for the whole ten rounds. I honestly shake my head at the fact that some of you look at Whyte and think he's a better prospect than Parker. Whyte's no scrub, but he's miles sloppier than Parker and doesn't look to have anywhere near the raw natural ability that Parker displays. I'd love for them to fight each other. Parker would tear him a new one.
Their CV's are pretty similar and Josh took out another prospect which Parker hasn't done yet well Martz I suppose you could consider a prospect given his age.. What I got out of Joshua v Whyte is Joshua is far from invincible, fights far too stiffly with no real head movement. He has power but a good chin can take it, he boxes ok for a man of his size. He really looked out of his depth especially when he got hit but he managed to survive well which is what you want. Parker on the other hand looks way faster (being Whytes size) maybe less power but he seems to be able to one punch KO easily and his combinations are massive. His chin hasn't been tested but his defense is pretty bad and he looks like a ko waiting to happen half the time. In saying this he can box but once he goes on the attack he looks open.. So who would win?? I reckon it would look a bit like Bruno v Tyson but I'm not sure Parker would be good enough to be Tyson.. Will be a good fight when it eventually happens..
Maybe but Chisora really looks shot, especially against Nascimento he looked terrible. He'll probably get hurt badly against Joshua.
No. Until the fight with Whyte, Parker easily has the better overall resume - this is how the independent ranking systems have Parker ranked higher. I think Whyte is probably more dangerous than he is given credit for by the ranking systems however, so NOW ranking aside I consider Joshua more proven... and we really need to see Parker fight someone similar or better than Whyte to know for sure. In my opinion right now Whyte has a puncher's chance against Parker, much the same as he did against Joshua - but the overall fight would have a similar outcome.
I agree he looked bad there, 260lbs for that though. I doubt he trained at all except at Burger King. He needs to be 230 or under.
He may have seen the worm in action against Wilder and though bulk up to 300+ then ko the champ!!! Worked for the worm (except the champ got up and payment was made)..
Sadly both are overhyped by a lot of people. They both are part of the future, I'm really impressed by both and I get a bit frustrated when people seriously short change either of them - not sure if it's just that Parker is a fellow Kiwi and I am struggling with bias despite my best efforts, it feels like 90+% of the Brits are basically insane when it comes to comparing Joshua to anyone not British.
