Could Pacquiao have ever beaten Floyd?

Watch the pacquiao of Cotto then watch the Pac of Mayweather or even Bradley 2. this is a valid discussion. Two different fighters.

 

Pac always struggled with Marquez, no way he would have ever beaten Mayweather.

 

nah......he simply does not have what it takes to beat Floyd....not now or any time in his career.

Cotto and Bradley are nowhere near the problem that Floyd is for Pac.....NOWHERE near.

edit* I think Pac is a hell of a fighter.....but Floyd and his style is just his Kryptonite

 

The real winner of the fight was Arum, for managing to convince millions of gullible people that Pacquiao could beat Floyd.

 

And Mayweather struggled with another high output fighter named Castillo.

Styles makes fights. You cannot dismiss the high output volume punching prime Pacquiao.

 

Even with his high output, Pacquiao is a dumb fighter. He can't cut off the ring or fight on the inside.

 

This Pac was also more careless and probably gets stopped by Mayweather. Mayweather is at least as fast as Pac, has a much longer reach and has the footwork to keep Pac in front of him. Besides, Pac fights nothing like Castillo.

 

The May Pacquiao fight felt like underwhelming *** with a high school crush. It did not hold the promise. I believe it would have been more interesting and entertaining in 2009. I would have given Pacquiao a decent shot.

While Pacquiao was outboxed in their fight, Pacquiao was able to box with Mayweather for large stretches of the fight. Moreso than any other boxer Mayweather has faced in my opinion. At the highest level slight changes in ability matter a lot. And both fighters clearly were not at their top level anymore. Pacquiao needed to win two more rounds to make it even on two score cards - this does not seem otherworldly to me.

 

Honestly, it's a sad conversation. We'll never see it and you can thank Mayweather, boxing politics, Arum, or whoever for that. It's a shame and massive disappointment for all boxing fans. Hopefully future fighters who care for the sport learn from these two and don't make the same mistake.

That Pac accepted after all the uproar and Mayweather still refused. Reason why Pac said Mayweather was hiding behind the blood test controversy.
