You could be right, but l also think the 36 year old Lewis who beat Tyson would beat a 36 year old Holyfield.

I think the 1999 version of Evander who still gave a prime Lewis a good fight might have narrowly beaten the 2003 Lewis who was sluggish, overweight and on the way out of boxing..

No way does Lewis train that way against Holy.

He trained like **** twice from what I can gather, Rahman and Vitali. Both times he was undisputed champ and seemed a shoe in for victory. Against Holy he would have been in prime shape and Lewis in prime shape will always beat Holy for me.

Maybe.. But I think by 2002-2003 he was having a hard time keeping his weight down. He was noticeably slower and seemed exhausted by about the fifth round in the Vitali fight. He was in stellar shape for Holy in both their 1998 and 1999 fights, yet Evander gave him a good go as it was. Logic would only state that Holy would be a bigger problem against the Lewis of four years later.

But that might just mean Lewis sits down on his shots more and goes for the KO.

If he exchanges with Holy he has every chance of bombing him out.

Think about what you're saying though. He'd be compromising his usual MO to fight Evander's kind of fight. And holyfield was more accustomed to mixing it up in the trenches with guys who swung for the fences than Lewis was.

Yes but Holy himself was no spring chicken.

Bottom line, whilst it wouldn't be an upset, I would expect Lewis to win either on points or by ko.

Poor strategic Holyfield of first fight still gets outboxed.

Holyfield of second fight is still going to be troubled by Lewis size and physical power, and have a similar effective but low volume out put. Might be a similar fight to the actual meeting, which I now feel Holyfield edged.

I don't think Lewis declined all that much in 3 years. And Holyfield lacks the stamina and length to beat up Lewis like Vitali did, but he would protect himself better and not lose on cuts.

Holyfield would have probably outboxed him fairly conclusively...I've never seen Lewis as rusty, sluggish and poorly conditioned than against Vitali.

If you feel Holyfield edged him in their 1999 rematch, then chances are that same version of Evander does a little bit better against a 2003 Lewis, even if Lennox's decline was marginal.
