So I went to the gym to congratulate gary Russell's little brother, who goes by the same name, for making it to.the Olympic s. I heard the rumor floating around that Thurman isn't contracted with haymon and Oscar is offering him the goods to come over to gb.

    Thurman vs Canelo 2016?

Russell hasn't qualified for the Olympics; international qualifying doesn't begin until March with a continental tournament in Bueno Aires...!!!

Like four of that guys' sons are named Gary (insert middle name) Russell

seems like a bad (and sort of ridiculously vain?) idea.

He's in a division where nearly all the top guys are with PBC.

Moving to a promoter who doesn't deal with PBC wont be good for his career

What an absolute duck, he was scheduled to fight porter, but thought that was to competitive now is running to Oscar to protect him from other fighters in al-haymons stable like Garcia, khan etc.

Expect a fight against another past it champion to be arranged + some more call out videos.

There was some question whether Thurman was even going to fight on the PBC when Haymon and De La Hoya parted ways.

It makes sense for Thurman if he's interested in fighting Tim Bradley, Amir Khan or Manny Pacquiao. Those are exciting, winnable fights for him.

However, outside of those guys, most of the top welterweights have a working relationship with Al Haymon - Mayweather (who'll fight again), Brook, Garcia, Errol Spence, Porter, Berto ... etc. And Thurman hasn't faced any of those guys yet.

I like watching Thurman fight. People need change of scenery sometimes.

That said, the only welterweights Golden Boy has under contract are Khan and Sadam Ali, so if that's all there is for Thurman, it's not a good move.

    We'll see.

It did always seem like that. He was being matched well and tough early on, then he just ended up getting mediocre fights and looked to be regressing.

If this does happen to be true, then I guess we'll see his return to HBO.
