Lewis looked more tired against Vitali, but Vitali was a larger physically stronger man, pushing Lewis all over the ring, and hitting him at will with long arms over the top.

But maybe Holyfield could have pushed harder and more conclusively swept the later rounds, than he could against younger Lewis. But who knows with those judges from the rematch, 2 out of three have Lewis round 12 despite Evander dominating the round.

 

Lewis sat down on his shots pretty well, especially in rounds 1-7.

Holyfield just happens to have an iron chin.

So no, Lennox NEVER ko's Holyfield (unless Evander is 40+ years old).

 

No way 2003 Lewis does better against 1999 Holy, than prime Lewis actually did.

While I do agree with you that I think a 37 Holyfield would likely beat a 37 year old Lewis, let's not pretend they fought only once. in the first fight Lewis had Holyfield in all kinds of trouble in the 5th and 7th rounds. Almost stopped him actually. So it's possible that the Lewis who fought Vitali could stop Holyfield but unlikely.

What did that version of Lewis do to guys who had average chin? Destroyed them in 1-2 rounds.

Holyfield should get all credit in the world for lasting the distance in the 1st fight against THAT Lennox :deal Keep in mind that Lennox landed 300+ punches in the 1st fight. Poor Holy.

I agree, I imagine he would land less, but it's not to say he couldn't possibility get a KO.

I wouldn't bank on it and I also consider it unlikely but it is possible.

Like I said, I think a 37 year old Holyfield beats a 37 year old Lewis, and a 36 year old Lewis (the one who fought Tyson) would beat a 36 year old Holyfield.

 

I tend to agree with you. I think in both cases it lasts full 12 rounds.

Lewis hit hard as hell. Holyfield though weaker puncher had history of dropping several iron-chinned fighters. So anything is possible, but IMO highly unlikely.

 

I'm just gonna say I really think Lewis clearly won the second fight. I don't really get why that isn't universally agreed on.
