    Before him it was rare that guys would even try. Everybody was happy holding on to one or the old school guys like Hopkins and Wlad were trying and no one cared .

    Being that GGG is part of the new school him calling for all the belts at 160 has unification bouts popping up all over the place.
    Jacobs want Lee vs Saunders winner is a big example

    WBA REG/WBO VS WBC/IBF/WBA SUPER

    Doesn't Jacobs hold one of those bogus titles? I'm not sure if it's a unification bout.

    Thanks to GGG it has become acceptable to stay in a weak division beating bums for meaningless titles when you clearly have the talent to move up and test yourself.

    ggg wasnt all that concerned about unifying when he was chasing fights with froch and chavez....but when ward was back in the picture? oh you bet unifying was a lifelong dream!

    yer absolutely right though....it has become ok and acceptable in the eyes of triple duck fans for him to do just what you said...but if it were another fighter doing this? his fanboys would be screaming bloody murder

    Exactly, imagine if a few years ago if Floyd or Pac decided they wanted to fight Paulie & Devon Alexander to unify the welterweight division.

    its sad....demand greatness and challenges from fighters you dont like.....but say its ok for a fighter you like to stay in a weak division and dominate "maybe hell beat hopkins record that would be awesome"!!!!.....as if that will make ggg held in the same regard as hopkins or something

    Exactly, Hopkins greatness comes from his victories over other elite fighters, not from all his middleweight title defences.

    its what hopkins did after his mw reign that puts him where he is

    hopkins fighting and even losing a shutout to kova at age 49 is better than anything ggg will accomplish

    Yep. I see the double standard in that. It would be, "Floyd and/or Manny fought weak guys to get those belts, it's bull**** they should have fought_(insert boxer name here)."
