I would guess he would retire but who knows. Certainly a "retirement fight" or something like that could be in order.
I don't think fighters are forced to fight because they are in a contract, they can retire anytime after they finish a planned fight.
I think he will win the rematch but not sure if he'll continue beyond that I think he may have his sights on unifying of wilder before retiring But regardless of if he retires; Wlad will WIN the rematch count on it
I'd assume he would target Wilder first, see if he can try for the path of least resistance to retire both a) on a W and b) once more as "champ". ...which then leaves the WBC belt vacant, meaning a power vacuum gets filled by perhaps better fighters, with someone new standing opposite Fury in the unification match. Not a terrible scenario, could shake things up a bit. :think
If he loses to Fury for a second time he will retire. There is simply no way back. And Bambi on Ice, Usa fraud will never fight him... Not after being KO'd by Wlad in sparring.
You don't think if Wlad throws his financial weight around, he can get Wilder in the ring? K2 would be able to offer him more than Haymon can get him with a year's worth of his joke challengers.
Probably not. Either way, another loss would basically reinforce every argument against his inclusion in ATG HW lists(Dominted weak era, can't beat guys bigger than him, etc.). I'm not saying it's fair. I'm just stating facts.
He looks in perfect physical shape. His problems are mental, not physical. If he can sort his head out then he could hang around for a few more years if he wanted to. I think it's sort of like Bob Sapp when he burst onto the MMA/kickboxing scene. He went toe to toe with Hoost, who is a legend, and won. He fought as if he was invulnerable. But after Cro Cop bust Sapp's orbital bone, Sapp imploded mentally and in the end couldn't even beat Jan Nortje. Maybe Sanders is still alive, in Wlad's head.
Win or Lose Wlad is an ATG. I'm not even a Wlad fan, boring to watch, cookie-cutter technique, rinse and repeat. However it was effective and reigned for a long time. In a H2H most of the ATG's lose to him cause of his height and reach advantages. By the way, I think Wlad loses the rematch and stylistically could never neat Fury. I'm not a fan of Fury either, but his height and reach advantages will make him a force for the next few years. Only Wilder and Joshua have a chance. I'm not a fan, but the taller heavies are here to rule.
