I do know one person that fled the country to avoid Vietnam his name was William Jefferson Clinton. His punishment was THE US made him PRESIDENT!!!!!!

 

Ali dodged the draft because he didn't want to go into a foreign nation with the commander telling him what to do.

Vietnam was one scary ass place and you never know if you were going to be placed in infantry.

Bombs, ****y traps, tunnels, malaria, etc. All that stuff was going on over there and a lot of people were like "**** That".

 

Ali knew that he wasn't going to fight in Vietnam if he went into the army.

 

How? If you're conscripted you don't have a choice. You go to the unit they want you to go to.

 

That's only for regular grunts. Ray Robinson and Joe Louis didn't come close to seeing combat during WWII. Ali was told that he wouldn't see combat either but he still refused to go in.

 

He didnt flee the country, he went to prison over his belief and his conviction was overturned in the supreme court.

Since you arent too bright let me explain what the means to you :

THE GOVERNMENT WAS WRONG AND VIOLATED THE CONSTITUTION BY JAILING HIM FOR REFUSING TO FIGHT IN A WAR THAT VIOLATED HIS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS; BELIEFS THAT ARE PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION.

Yes... Ali would have been in special services, visiting various army bases, boosting morale. Evis was offered the same choice when drafted... but chose to become a tank driver in Germany.

 

Why are you debating this? Supreme court sided with Ali for a reason.

I read it. Maybe I should give you some timelines. Ali refused to be inducted into the military. He was stripped of his title and the government went after him. He filed a lawsuit and about three years after he refused induction, the Supreme Court said he was within his rights as a conscientious objector to refuse induction. The Supreme Court decision didn't come down until three years after he refused to go in.

 

Your are not to go to war unless Allah or The messanger has told you to do so.

Not that I agree with the beliefs themselves since I am a non religious man, but, i may not KSAB I do know about case law and history.

To call Ali a draft dodger demonstrates a lack understanding of United States history.
