I saw a documentary a couple of months back about boxing journeyman and how some earn really well, but they say wining would be terrible for their career and very often they lose fights they could have won (many interviews from retired fighters) as is if they represent any risk to the 'up and comer' they won't get booked, they are respected as like a really good sparing partner who knows the score, talks the talk, give them a bit of a test but not too much, gets the payday then off to the next booking. It intimated that the boxers who get paid the least are those in-between genuinely a decent level getting paid a decent amount and the journey who are paid fairly well for their services to the greater good.

It depends what you mean by 'paid well'. They won't be earning anywhere near 50k, which would be, what? The top 5% of British earners?

Obviously an extra grand a month if you're getting 300 or 400 here and there is a decent supplement to your income.

I don't think that's true. Sergey Khomitsky is an example and Yvan Mendy probably gets another payday with Ricky Burns because he beat Campbell.

Think it's a reference to the guys you put them in for the first few fights, not a khomitsky/Mendy who they face when they want them to step up from say domestic to euro/fringe world level

Indeed, for example does anybody actually know how many active professional fighters there are in the UK ? And out of that number what percentage makes more than an average living for the years he is fighting. I expect it's a case that more than 90% of the money is made by the top 1% of the fighters and the the other 99% share the remaining 10, if that !

David Price is finished, he may as well retire. He has a glass jaw and I am sad to say that he is going nowhere.

He has a puncthers chance if he goes for it against anyone for 3 rounds or until he gets hit clean. After that
    He starts gassing.

Price's complete lack of confidence in himself and inability to use his punching power out of fear, is the reason why he needs to retire.
    Its over.
Unless he wants to get knocked out again and again by up and comers who are using his name.

I wonder if someone like peter fury could change price's defence and make him hard to hit, he needs a new trainer anyway for sure.

I think Peter would certainly do more good than harm for Price.... But Pricey doesn't have the fluidity, or natural movement of either Fury. Not sure he'd be able to change that much to make him a serious player again at the world stage. Would love to be wrong though, Price is a great guy and I've always been a fan.....

Lots of talk about Price on here lately. Is there rumours of him fighting on?
