Could Lewis have survived the onslaught that was Manilla?

That's not what the question is. Could Lewis's chin have held up from the punishment from either men?

The point people are making is against a faded Ali and a very faded Frazier, he probably wouldn't need to.

Is that why you're plastered all over the forum picking him to lose fantasy fights?

The question as I understood it was whether Lewis could absorb the same punches that Joe took in round 13-14.

If that's correct and putting whether Lewis would ever be in a situation to have to take punches like that aside, my answer would be no.

Joe took an insane amount of solid, flush shots the likes and quantity of which Lewis never did (or had to).

Vitali landed some big punches on Lennox but not with the speed an accuracy of Ali's 13th round burst in particular. Ali wasn't a big puncher but he hit solid enough and a practically blind Frazier still kept chugging forward and trying to fight back without resorting to backing up or clinching. It was actually quite incredible to see and speaks volumes about Frazier. He may have lacked in some areas but his heart was one of the biggest..ever.

Lewis had a better chin than some are suggesting but unlike Joe (who Foreman aside when he was hurt always managed to roar back) he didn't like to get hit and didn't react all that well when he did. But to his credit aside from the McCall and Rahman shockers and a couple of scary moments against Briggs and Vitali, Lennox was usually in total control of his fights and didn't need to rely on his whiskers to save his ****.

Would Lewis have been able to stand up to the shots that Rid**** Bowe took from Golota???
Probably not - - -- But he didnt need to

Or would Oliver Mccall of been able to absorb the shots that Foreman gave Frazer - Probably yes but it doesnt mean McCall is superior to Joe Frazier

Chin no. Power and boxing skills yes. Both line is if Lewis was in the ring with either of them that day he likely wins.

Ali had superior boxing skills to Lewis who had superior boxing skills to Frazier.

Prime Lewis would have half killed that Frazier before the halfway stage ,so the circumstance would not arise.

    Yes I do.

Actually I think Lewis could take Ali's and Frazier's shots without going down or being stopped.Lewis' chin is severely underated, imo.
BTW Mr Grammar, there's only one l in Manila.

I agree completely. The FOTC was the significant fight. Both were under 30 and undefeated. Joe's style made his prime short-lived. The only reason that Ali-Frazier II and III get so much attention is because of the undeserved Ali adulation. That being said, IMO Lewis beats any version of Frazier, and any version of Ali.

That's nonsense. He would not have been able to take those shots. It would've been all to much for him. Ali literally almost died. Lewis has went down and been staggered by much lesser shots.
