He also said Eubank sat down afterwards and asked him "how he was so strong for the weight" I took that with a pinch of salt but then... I shook his hands and not only did he nearly crush my tiny paw, I could feel wrist strength that seemed freakish on a 12 stone man hahah. Top bloke though humble as they come and was talking to all the fans. Out of appreciation we waited to watch hos brother Dan Blackwell box, whilst everyone left for the press conference.
I see he got retired by his corner fighting Martin Murray, was it cuts or did he get soundly beaten ?
Murray was a solid middleweight although I wouldn't give Blackwell much of a chance against Eubank either. These sparring stories are always interesting and most of the time BS. I remember CEJ claiming he 'schooled' James Degale. I took that with a pinch of salt too.
When did they spar? I'm assuming around 2 years ago. I can believe that story as being true however if it was around 2 years I'm also assuming that CEJ has come on far more than Blackwell since then. If they sparred within the last year then different story I guess but if it was longer then I could believe it. I don't think he would "throw him about at will" today though.
It was his sixth pro fight againts Murray with no amateur career so was always going to happen, I think Eubank beats him aswell but I hope not
No idea when it was but he said he can't punch for toffee and he is not the first person to say it. He sparred a super middleweight called Alex Gibbons who is 5-1 and he said the same
Again I believe that but obviously his accumulation of punches do some damage, after all Spike was meant to be a tough guy. Calazghe wasn't a notorious hard hitter aswell but the accumulation of them does damage as do they score points. Having said that it would be a huge advantage for a come forward fighter knowing there was a small chance of being KO'd by one punch.
If Blackwell sticks to his jab This content is protected gets a fast start he is certain to beat CEJ. Without these two criteria - depending on how much he strays away from them - he gives CEJ a chance......
You have to remember Blackwell was very green then, he has zero amateur experience and it was too soon to be put in with Murray. Murray was vastly more experienced and looked like a man in that fight, Blackwell (no disrespect) looked like a very young novice. It was a really bad move putting Blackwell in that fight at that time in my opinion, luckily it didn't do to much damage, lesser fighters might have gone south after that.
It was blackwells 9th fight and was english champ at the time. He boxed a bit of white collar b4 turning pro. He was being soundly beaten but took everything murray threw at him his corner pulled him out at the end of 5th round.
So Jnr can hold his own with Froch but gets toyed with by Nick Blackwell? I like Blackwell but he would struggle to toy with a journeyman let alone with someone of that ability, Blackwell is a good fighter but he is not a natural talent, he is a tough guy that will battle it out, not some slickster and therefore I think it is complete *******s.
Not a natural talent? He came close to stopping Khomistky and was robbed againts Bursar, he showed he is levels above most domestic Middleweight, show some respect he is levels above a journeyman
