I agree with this. It seems like Canelo was always hyped, even before he had done anything and I'm not sure why. Is it just the novelty of being a ginger Mexican? He is actually not as bad as I first thought though but not good enough to justify the hype.
You make a good point in your last sentence. On the one hand people say that this fighter was weakened from dehydrating to make weight and then on the other hand say another fighter has an unfair advantage by dehydrating to make weight. Which one they say usually depends on some childish personal bias/agenda. People need to stop crying about guys cutting weight. The rules are the same for both fighters.
How many matches of BJS have you seen? Maybe you should watch a few and see why he's saying that. Trout almost outslicked Canelo, BJS is way slicker than Trout.
Trout got beat up and dropped, Lara got beat up and ran, Cotto got a boxing clinic, and if you feel Lara beat Alvarez why do you make excuses about GGG-Lara? New HBO head said he'll work with anybody, you should be pushing this bout not hide behind a title that you feel is fake anyway. Like I said show me a fighter who's never had a close fight, and I'll show you someone who hasn't fought anybody'.
And a more reasonable argument that he actually won all three. Some are now using the, "but Canelo beat a small Cotto..." BS excuse. This was the same Cotto who easily beat two legit MW (about the same level of fighters GGG has been fighting.)
Cotto did look like a midget in the ring with Canelo. I think whomever fights Canelo next should request VADA drug testing. At the very least Canelo could be using something to help cut weight but happens to be on the banned substance list. Canelo should seek out advice from Erik Morales in Tijuana. I know that Clenbuterol is great for cutting weight and at the same time preserving and even gaining lean muscle. It could work wonders for the still young Canelo even though it wasn't much good for the old rotten Morales.
A legitimate argument can be made for Cotto beating him?? Give me a break. The other 2 were close fights, but even then, having close fights with top class fighters isnt exactly an "exposure"
How many fighters have a better resume? How many fighters take on opponents regardless of style. If Alvarez wants to take on an easy opponent after a string of top dangerous foes, more power to him. Miguel Cotto James Kirkland Erislandy Lara Alfredo Angulo Floyd Mayweather Austin Trout
No, he didn't. Scores show that at least one judge (more likely two) in each of those fights was corrupt.
