I really don't care whether it's 12 or 15 rounds for championship fights to be honest. What I would like to see is same day weigh-ins. That would end a lot of the current bs.
Really? The Doctor that was instrumental in changing same day weigh-ins now admits that it was a mistake. He said that same day weigh-ins are actually safer given the current practices.
i grew up with 15 rounds but many fighters coasted in rounds to conserve energy and could be long drawn out affairs and i prefer the 12 round distance.
Thanks :thumbsup Feel free to start a new thread if you want. I'd also like a return standing 8 count and for judges to use 10-10 more when fighters refuse to engage and play a game of 'tag you're in!' like Rigo or Mayweather.
everyone would have to change weight classes. You have a chance to rehydrate with the current system. If we did same da weigh ins guys would kill themselves to make weight for the fight and then not be able to rehydrate properly.
According to the Good Son- the Mancini book, the brain surgeon who worked on saving Kims life believed the damage was done on the final blow and not due to a drawn out beating. He said there is no way Kim could have fought with that intensity in the previous round I'd say 15 ups the chance to see a KO but more likely it is more of a marathon of a fight where it comes down to conditioning and pacing than boxing but over a longer period the better fighter emerges I will say 12 condenses the action guys pace less and can trade more but who knows
15 was better, a big fight was a big fight, in terms of bang per buck, spectacle and potential loo breaks. shorter fights means a trickle down the ranks of reduced fight lengths in lesser bouts , opening the doors for weaker and weaker opposition, particularly poorly conditioned fighters those requiring less commitment and fitness training (fitness training is the biggest chore in sport by far). on the other hand the health thing, shorter fights is surely better to protect health.
