played football with nigel benn and he looked smaller than in the ring used to go to same gym as denis andries and he was just a square thickset lump used to see frank bruno all the time at stratford swimming baths and he looked huge just so thickset. colin mcmallian was slight as befits a featherweight lennox lewis was tall but was in proportion. just putting those name down /stratford was a hotbed for boxing.
Unless they're heavyweights, it's mostly been that way since I can remember. Boxers usually pretty slim, fit individuals. Even journeymen fighters are usually in very good shape with terrific cardio.
Some people also do t realise that these guys are standing next to fighters from their own division. Its impossible to judge. Also s fighter, standing on his own with nothing to compare him against, looking muscular doesn't make him "huge" and "on roids"
lol, but you know he could be returning just to look at the comments and not posting. I do that sometimes.
Checking out Frank Bruno at the Stratford swimming baths??? Don't know what that's about , but it sounds gay as ****.
I met Ali after the second Spinks fight and used to ocassionally see Holmes in the airport when he was the champ. Both were larger than I thought they would be. I used to see Hearns in the Detroit nightclubs all the time. He was closer to 6'3" than his listed 6'!". Holyfield on the other hand wasn't as big as I thought he would be. It makes me respect him more for going up against men much larger than him.
Froch, Tyson and Khan were all smaller than I expected them to be when I saw them in person. Bowe, Tim Witherspoon and Glen McCrory were bigger and Golovkin and Lennox Lewis were about the size I thought except maybe Golovkin was a bit stickier than I expected.
It's how wirey Froch is that surprised me, a genuinely skinny guy when compared to the average man on the street.
