You guys have to understand why there is so much hype. People have been physically dominant. Like Jones, Pacquiao, Mosley. Guys have been technicians like Marquez, Mayweather, Hopkins.

But it's extremely rare to find somebody like Golovkin. Somebody who combines impeccable skills with physical ability.

Iron chin, massive power, good stamina/workrate, great timing, great footwork, great aggression, can shift, can shoulder roll, can parry, can counter, conscious of taking the outside angle, etc.

    He's so complete as a fighter it's astonishing. That's why he's hyped.

Hearns from the Hagler fight would have stopped Toney.

Yes he would have. Hearns is a style nightmare for Toney. He cannot outbox Hearns because Hearns is just too skilled, too fast, too long.

And after 12 rounds of being beatdown from that concussive power the corner throws in the towel.

I don't know. You can't really say til his career is over. Toney can take a shot. Can ggg sustain the pressure over 12 to beat him because he'll never knock him out. I'd have to see ggg pushed a bit before I'd say he has a chance

    Toney isnt sleeping v GGG.

As anoter poster has said - we need to see GGG against elite level opposition first.

I know this and I'm a fan myself. But in my opinion, it's far too early to say with any certainty that he'd have beaten guys like Roy and Toney.

We know what great attributes he possesses. But can they still be as effective against a higher class opponent?

The Toney that beat Nunn at MW beats the living hell out of Golovkin and sends him back to Russia to herd goats.

Sam Peter weighs 100 pounds more than GGG and he couldn't stop Toney. Toney would beat the **** outta GGG and laugh at his power.

Of course, nobody can say with certainty one way or the other, and it is not because it is too early, but because "one of a kind" fighters can adjust so well. If you haven't seen Golovkin to do something, it only means that he didn't need it yet.

I don't know how anyone can be so sure at this stage.

    It's actually quite baffling.

Toney goes to sleep? Based on what?

Golovkin doesn't possess one punch knock you dead power like Jackson. He also seems easy enough to hit.

Toney had a great chin and defence, and he was a great counter puncher. He had great skills.
