    Lewis
    Holmes
    Holyfield

not positive all 3 would beat Ali, just think they would have a fair chance.

    Lewis
Vitali would be awkward for Ali
Holyfield would give Ali a good tough fight
best v best scenarios though...I'd say Ali is the top heavyweight.

Jersey is no match for Ali

And I never say a bad word about Jersey Joe.

    Dempsey, Tunney, Johnson,
    Louis, Marciano, Frazier,
    Young, Lewis, Vitali,
    Walcott, Charles, Vlad
    Prime Liston, Tyson, Holyfield,
    Holmes, Norton, Bowe

Ali was given questionable decisions over Jones, Young, Norton, Frazier, and Shavers. Cooper almost knocked him out. An amateur, Spinks, beat him and the Liston fights smelled to the high heavens. Let's get past the Ali myth.

Ok, I am adding Holyfield. Those 4 are my 3 choices.

    Holmes

Peak Liston has virtually no chance against Ali although personally I prefer Liston

Some of the potential picks are obvious i.e. Louis, Marciano, Frazier, Holmes etc.

I suspect that there were a few potential stalking horses out there as well.

Ali might have been unlucky to share an era with Frazier, but I don’t think that he was unlucky to share an era with Norton.

It might turn out that somebody totally unexpected like Fred Fulton or Michale Dokes was a perfect foil for him!

You may be right, but I don't think we ever saw a legit fight between Ali and Liston.

I wouldn't bet on the first one being bent but the second certainly was.
