It's not a question of hating anyone. They fought not once but twice and both times Tyson could not handle what Holy brought to the table. Why? Disciplined attack, disciplined defense, not dancing away but instead pushing Tyson back, making Tyson think. Prime Holy would fight prime Tyson the same way and more than likely the guy who won not once but twice with these tactics would......surprise surprise... Win again.

People think 4 years locked up in the slammer has no effect on a fighter.

His mental state and physicality were never the same. So good he was though , he was still a major factor in the division till the early 2000's.

Holyfied adapted to his rhythm since he was nothing but a plodding single shot head hunter at the time.

No amount of hours studying the tape can prepare you for the blitzing hand , foot and head movement Tyson brought in the 80's.

Holy would beat Tyson every time and anytime they fought. He had what it took to bring Tyson into deep water. Anytime he was brought into deep water he drowned. Another point is the Holy who fought Tyson was not even prime Holy and he still knocked him out and beat him not once but twice. V

Holyfield who beat Tyson was juiced up to the the eyebalz.

If he was not prime when he fought Tyson , what the hell was he when he took Lewis 24 rounds years later.

Past prime only applies to Tyson in this fight , as i doont recall Evander being locked away in any jessop for 4 years under false charges.

You may as well make the argument that Danny Williams had the beating of Tyson while your at it. Dingbat.

88 Tyson is being severely underrated. The combos, defense, chin. I mean Holy from Bowe 1 vs Tyson from Spinks could be a classic. Or another day at the office for Mike. Tyson had a great jab especially in the 80s and an awesome body attack. However, for someone not known as a puncher, Holy almost KOed Bowe, TKOed Tyson and rocked Big George so Holy can certainly will himself to a victory against almost anyone. 88 Tyson with Rooney KO 6.

Asking a lot from Tyson. Holy beat him TWICE and not close TWICE. Holy was THIRTY FOUR years old and clearly his best days were behind him. Yet he beat and koed Tyson. Prime Holy vs any Tyson would more than likely do what he did when they actually fought. Why would anyone believe anything different?

Absolutely, based on what happened in 96/97, it would be very difficult to envisage Tyson ever gaining the upper hand again a fighter who was clearly better in every department, beside one punch power and he had the chin to deal with that if need be. Holyfield 89/93 survives a torrid opener to counter and frustrate Tyson and stretch him during the middle rounds, i'm a huge Tyson fan but Holyfield would have defeated him regardless. Holy TKO8 Tyson 1991......

well that is a interesting take on their fights,

put it this way, the only way I would agree with you would be if you wanted to argue that Holy's FEAR of Tyson made him fight Tyson very aggressively and not show any fear while doing it,,,

regardless, I have always thought prime Tyson would have been a much harder fight for Holy then post prime Tyson. I know its kinda biased to grant one fighter with a short prime and not another but look how we do it for Bowe, lol, the point is imo Tyson was simply a little faster and little more energetic prior to loosing the powerful focus he had prior to Buster and then prison.

That said, maybe Holy would have still had his number, that's how good Holy was.

Holyfield is one of the most multi dimensional HW fighters in history.

He knew the strategy to beat Tyson, the question whether Tyson could knock him out before the final bell. I don't think he would.

Asser69 is the only poster who claims to have someone on ignore yet is stupid enough to quote them directly.

In order for Tyson to have any chance, he has to return to the discipline and game plan of 1985-88, with the catskills team. Head hunting is not going to work as holyfield himself had a very iron chin.

This is a problematic fight for Tyson at any stage of his career.
