    The man was

    - beaten by a LHW in Charles handidly
    - Robbed Jersey Joe Walcott
    - Barely got past a LHW in Conn
    - couldn't go the distance with a 170 pound Marciano
    - dropped by Toney Galento
    - KO'd by an old Schmeling, only beat a shot shmeling
    - Has not 1 win over a prime great HW or LHW for that matter.

Joke Louis needs to be re-examined. You wanna talk About Monzon? You wanna talk ABout HAGLER. YOU WANNA GET REAL WELL LETS GET REAL MOTHER****ER:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::fire:smoke

When you have such a long, extensive career at the top level, there's going to be some bad moments.

Louis is overrated H2H, but that's just my opinion. He's still the greatest heavyweight of all time.

    yeah, about that.

Can we stop forgetting a majority of his "reign" was him in the military fighting exhibitions? He should have been stripped. I respect he decided to fight for my country but not everyone did and thats not fair to active boxers who were in their prime during that time.

Even if we disregard the war and years of inactivity, he still fought 50+ ranked opponents if I remember correctly. That's absurd, and leaves plenty of space for blemishes.

Wladimir Klitschko by contrast only fought 20-25 ranked opponents I believe.

Well let's start by saying he's not a heavyweight lol transported into the modern ring at the start of his career he'd be the size of a light heavyweight on fight night, who eventually went up to cruiser...a reasonably small modern day cruiser at that.

He was dominant, you're just moaning about his past prime/shot losses.

He also beat some decent boxers who were like 250lbs.

So how exactly would Louis be a light-heavyweight? Never understood this.

He's not a natural 200 lb guy that can cut down weight and then rehydrate. He's a natural 220-230 lb man that would weigh in 200 lb after an excruciating training camp.

I mean, look at him. The man was skin and bones at 200 pounds.

With that type of frame he could easily pull off a Jennings in terms of physique with modern nutrition, PEDs and weight training.

Ahh, well I made the distinction there! I said if he was transported into the modern ring, he'd be a modern day light heavy and eventually turned cruiser. I say this because from 34' to Schmeling KO, he'd weigh in at under 200lbs and as low as 188 with his first fight being at 181 - the size of a super middleweight on fight night (baring in mind he's not cutting water weight to make 'weight' because he's in the heavyweight division).

Sergey Kovalev, a skinny looking light heavy, weighs around 195lbs on fight night. Sergey's walk around weight would be at least 200 - The modern fighters go through gruelling training camps too and a lot of their training camp period is devoted to cutting weight (with the help of PED's).

If he were given PED's, modern training, nutrition, 12 round fights, then of course he'd definitely be a heavyweight. But likewise, Sugar Ray Robinson if he had a 40 fight career in modern times, he'd start at 160lbs and move up lol.

Bare in mind modern day cruiserweights usually weigh 220+ on fight night.
