Parker Takam IBF rumors

Over here in NZ I laugh at the typical wee fan boys saying how JP is going to do this and do that. I have every reason to believe that he will get a title fight one day. Hopefully, that is not for a year or 2 yet. The same people pushing prospects like Parker are the same ones who chop them down when they lose.

Stylistically, I see Parker having the advantage over Takam. However, that doesn't mean it is going to pan out that way...

 

Would be funny to see prospect Parker having a better resume than chumpion Wilder.

 

That kind of thing is always going to happened domestically when someone is making waves as a prospect, as long time fans we know the harsh realities that stepping up to world level can sometimes bring even for a prospect who looks untouchable to the ignorant eye.

I'm a big believer in Parker too, I think he's going to become the first Samoan/Polynesian heavyweight champion of the world, but in due time..... No need to rush things as you say when you're as young/talented as he is in the HW division.

 

Yeah, Parker is very young. Only 23 years old. There's lots of time for improvement, no need to rush things.

 

Parker HAD no defense, no doubt could improve but I think his defense is *now* seriously underrated - he has a good offensive defensive style imho.... however, I think Carlos Takam is a much bigger step up than I'd expect to see. Possibly a tad too much too soon, but probably can't count it out and would love to see the fight.

Definitely winnable for Parker, but not a guaranteed win by any stretch - for a change. Very good fight, would love to see it.

You do realize Joe was 18-19 when he was competing as an amateur? He also had a backyard coaching team with little nutrition and sports science type knowledge. Did you ever see him as an am? He weighed in at 115kg = 250+lbs with no muscle tone what so ever.

Kevin Barry and the rest of his team have done wonders. The difference is like day and night. You might as well bring up the fights he lost at kindy!

I was simply making the point that Takam has only a 69% KO ratio and does not tend to blast guys out. Parker has taken heavier punches from heavier hitters and walked through them to blast guys out consistently.

In fact he has got better at it.

Yes - Takam is a step up. But yes - I believe Parker's Power will win the day.

Good fight that should happen. Takam is decent, but Parker needs a test like this. I'd favor him to pull it off - he's sharper, more athletic, and seemingly more skilled. And I'm not sure Takam has the beard to take Parker's shots over the long haul, whereas I'm more confident in Parker (despite being untested) taking Takam's shots better.

 

Who cares about that lame *** belt now? Stripping Fury not two weeks after he wins the titles was BS beyond anything I've seen in boxing in years.

Yeah, a big Parker fan - and this is technically within IBF's regulations, but what the hell.... why chose right now to be so strict on it? If any of the "top" belt holders are worthy of being stripped it's Wilder by a country mile.

Fury hasn't exactly lost any face from that demonstration, and it at least makes things a little bit interesting in IBF as the gulls s**** over the s****s.
