I think we wait too long these days. Guys only start turning pro in their mid twenties and that's bull****.

Tony Canzoneri has a title by age 18. Mickey Walker and Terry McGovern won titles at 19. Pacquiao picks up one at 20 like Willie Pep. Duran picks up his first title age 21 like Benny Leonard and Mayweather Jr. Julio Cesar Chavez captured one at 22 like Ali, Sandy Saddler, Billy Conn, and Stanley Ketchel. Joe Louis captures the title at 23, as did Barney Ross and Ray Leonard. Gene Tunney, Roy Jones Jr., and Eder Jofre 24. Robinson, Armstrong, Whitaker get theirs at 25.

Now, it's like these guys have no ambition. They aren't even trying to be great or do anything impressive. They just pick up some vacant strap, hold it against a few bums for years, and then retire.

Plus, the only reason Jennings fought Klitschko is because Wilder and Tyson Fury wouldn't fight him. They are the most logical challengers to his title, but they are waiting, being patient. The only reason Willie Monroe Jr. got his shot against Gennady Golovkin is because Cotto, Canelo, Quillin, Lee, Jacobs, and Eubank Jr all passed and Golovkin wanted to fight somebody. We've got champions who want to fight, who want to defend their belts, who want to unify, and not just fight once or twice a year. They are giving everybody a shot, but the guys who are most ready, most prepared, best equipped to match the champion punch for punch fury for fury want no part of them. We get these mismatches, these fights which are "too early" because other fighters all want to wait "for the right time." Well, I've lost all patience with the latter type of fighter. I can't stand a fool who sits on a belt and holds it hostage, fighting the lowest level fighters he can get away with while he waits for the real champ to age into feebleness or retire.

And Holyfied held the Cruiserweight title at 24. Shane Mosley was 26 when he captured a title. Miguel Cotto was 23. Andre Ward was 25. Roman Gonzalez was 21. Juan Fransisco Estrada was 23. Maro Huck was 24. James Toney was 23. Erik Morales was 21. Barrera was 24. Naseem Hamed was 21. De La Hoya was 21. Saul Alvarez 21.

Bryant Jennings is 30. 30! If he ain't ready now, he'll never be. Willie Monroe is 28! How much seasoning do you need? The idea that these cats would be somehow better if they'd waited longer is silly. They had plenty of time to learn the ropes. Lemieux is 26 and just got a title. He's the same age Hagler was when he started his reign at middleweight, the second time he fought for a title.

We are "not" too impatient, fans have to wait years for a good fight, unlike the old days...........................

Wilder not likely to fight Povetkin:

If povetkin ever accepts his 3rd I really 4th chance to fight DW. Povetkin knows for a fact as does any truly sane person, that's one of the biggest mismatches of the last decade.

Stop the bs about DW ****ing ducking povetkin, all that does is prove without a doubt you're just trolling. It's been an open ****ing offer that povetkin has yet to accept. DW is going to crush the Polish guy who's taking povetkins place.
Povetkin is most likely going to lose to whoever he picks next. He just won't fight DW for a title shot, title shot that might get him injured for life

The danger of burning dinner becomes a greater risk the longer you leave the meat in the oven.

Case in point: Juanma - Gamboa, Donaire - Mares, Pavlik - Calzaghe, Pavlik - Abraham, Pac - Mayweather (prime window clearly pasted for both), and many other examples.

**** that I remember how well patience paid off with that Gamboa vs Lopez fight, Should we patiently wait 10 years for Canelo or Jacobs to grow a pair and fight GGG?, and what about Ward vs Kovalev should we all be content waiting 5-10 years for Ward to feel up for it? we have to wait literally years for the fights we REALLY want to see and then they tend to get delayed, when the fights that every boxing fan wants to see are burning hot make the god damn fight dont put them on the same card or different cards on the same day against a common opponent, and screw the casual "fans" and trying to build the fighters into superstars if we actually got to see the fights we want to see when we want to see them they'd have the resume for that to actually happen provided there good enough.

To play devil's advocate, being too patient has ruined some would-be good match-ups. For example, Mosley-Trinidad could have possibly come to the forefront had they just dumped the Mosley-Winky bout. And then fights that did happen like Hopkins-Jones II and of course Floyd-Pac, had been derailed in a sense by Green and KTFO6.

I'm assuming this bump was in reference to our dialogue regarding BJS.

The way I see it, in today's game the way the business operates, fans are forced to be patient wishful-thinkers.

    Yeah you assumed correctly.

And I agree with your point as well, I'm for relatively moderate waits, if the wait gets too long I get impatient as well.

A yearlong build isn't that bad, when I did this thread I had WWE from when I was a kid in the back of my mind. They'd build from one WrestleMania to the next for Hogan to get his hands on the next big bad guy or challenge and it worked out perfectly for the fans, if everything goes as planned with the Kovalev-Ward HBO gameplan, that would be almost perfect however, I have a feeling it will go awry in some way before it takes place.
