As a change from posters interjecting into every ,across the eras ,head to head match up with such pearls of wisdom as ,"if Rocky Sharkey or who -ever ,was around today he would be 6'6"and 240lbs". What size would Muhammad Ali have been in the 1890s? I say around 5'9" and 175lbs, and Joe Choynski would have ripped his rectum out!!!! This Rioja is quite potent!
lmao, excellent counter point, i love it, i have never thought of it that way before, Ali at 5.9 175lbs would probably still be pretty good though :bbb
He would have been 6-3, been the best fighter on earth and never gotten a title shot. Which Rioja are you imbibing?
Don't think so. He would be a different fighter. He could not fight in the same manner with 25 round or more distances. Ali had bad hands and the horse hair filled 3-4 oz gloves won't help. Ali would fight more staticly which would lead to lots of clinching as opponents roughhoused in close. Movement side to side was difficult with leather soled shoes and rosen covered canvas ring floors. Different game all around back then.
Bull****. He was a far better athlete than the ****** parade which dominated the 1890's. He is cut from the new cloth. Pretty sure every ring I boxed in was made of canvas.
Different game back then, different equipment. Ali as is probably won't do well then. Jeffries as is probably wont do well today.
He would have been disqualified for "not trying". You did not run in those days or you would have been booed out of the ring and not paid.
