Again, thank you for earlier proving my argument that Holyfield just be considered the superior fighter and should be favored. I love it when we agree.
Gibbons v Foreman - Foreman was slow as could be and in his second career badly struggled with fighters who he couldnt hit (nearly everyone decided to stick and move). Gibbons was clearly far harder to hit than anyone foreman faced. He proved against Dempsey that he could take a punch also. This would be a good fight. Does Foreman risk being beaten by smaller guy with skills like he was against Young or Holyfield. Sharkey vs Douglas - The sharkey that met Douglas was prime and hungry. An awful lot like holyfield in some respects. The Douglas who met Holyfield once. Sharkey is a great chance. Firpo vs Moorer - Not sure how Moorer's chin would hold up to the inevitable right hand that Firpo lands. Does a Firpo right hand like he landed on Dempsey turn this fight into a Moorer Foreman repeat? Tyson vs Willard - Can Tyson do what Dempsey did? Or does is the height reach and weight advantage in Willards favour too much and stylistically do we end up seeing a Lewis vs Tyson style fight? Fulton vs Bowe - Bowe meets a tall, white superheavyweight with a record of being blown out against some of his opponents. This sounds a lot like Golota-Bowe but how does he do against one that doesnt foul out?
I'm matching these up at random... enjoy! Willard-Foreman Douglas - Fulton Bowe-Sharkey Gibbons-Moorer Tyson-Firpo
Lol at Gibbons beating Foreman. I mean thats actually funny. To think Foreman would lose Gibbons, even the Foreman that fought Holy, well thats silly. Gibbons would have been outweighed by 60 pounds, give up at least 3 inches in height (being generous to gibbons and conservative for Foreman), four and a half inches in reach, and wasnt particularly mobile, nevermind that he was carefully matched during the hw phase of his career. Foreman would have absolutely crushed Gibbons and this is coming from someone who is high on the Gibbons bros and thinks Foreman is overrated. This is a terrible combination of a bad stylistic matchup for Gibbons and some serious physical and power deficits as well. I wont even go into how absolutely ridiculous it is to suggest that the jess willard dempsey fought might pull a lennox lewis on the tyson holy fought. Gtfo. Hell id pick the tyson lewis fought to kick the **** out of willard. Can you imagine if tyson got to stand over willard (or carpentier or firpo) and hit them when they raised a knee off the canvas? Lets put this into perspective holyfield was black, a terrific boxer/puncher and extremely durable. He was taller than Harry Wills, had a longer reach, and weighed as much or more, and had at least as good a pedigree and Dempsey was scared ****less of Wills you seriously think youd drag him into a fight with Holyfield? Lol. I love how Dempsey fanboys fantasize about how great their hero would do against men that massive paydays and a team of horses couldnt get him to fight. Enjoy your fantasy because thats all it is. Had Dempsey actually grown a pair we wouldnt be having this discussion because his flaws would have been exposed more glaringly than getting outboxed by brennan, wobbled by 172 pound Carpentier, tied in knots by Gibbons, knocked down three times by firpo (once out of the ring) etc.
