To me Holmes wins this by late stoppage. I wouldn't be surprised to see loads going for Liston seeing as he is slightly overrated and Holmes is underrated

Larry Holmes- 69-6 (44) overall and 21-5 (15) in HW World Title fights. He beat Lineal HW Champs Muhammad Ali (also a Hall of Famer) KO10 and Leon Spinks KO3. He beat World Title holders Ken Norton (also a Hall of Famer) W15, Ossie Ocasio KO7, Mike Weaver KO12 and KO8, Trevor Berbick W15, Tim Witherspoon W12, James Smith KO12 and KO6, and Ray Mercer W12. He beat notable contenders Ernie Shavers W12 and KO11, Renaldo Snipes KO11, Gerry ****ey KO13, Randall Cobb W15, and Carl Williams W15. He went 48-0 (34) overall and 21-0 (15) before losing 2 close fights to Lineal LHW and HW Champ Michael Spinks that many felt Holmes deserved to win (especially the rematch). Spinks is also a Hall of Famer. 6'3"-6'3 1/2" with an 81"-82" reach (depending on what you want to believe) and 209-236 Lbs. in HW World Title fights. His best weight was around 212-215 Lbs.

Holmes has to be favored. He had the right combination of height, reach, size, strength, power, speed, durability, and overall skill. His jab was awesome. He proved he could beat many different types of fighters. Liston had a great jab as well but it was not as quick as Holmes'. Holmes was the better technician. Liston was almost always the bigger man in his fights. One exception was his fights with Cleveland Williams, but Williams was far from a great fighter. Williams went 1-1 (1) vs. Terrell and drew with Machen... he didn't get past the 3rd round vs. Satterfield, Liston x2, or Ali. Holmes was much better than Williams. Holmes was much better than Folley, Machen, or even Patterson. As a matter of fact Holmes was pretty much on the level with the 206-211 Lb. Ali that Liston fought in '64 and '65. A rusty Holmes held his own vs. Tyson (until round 4) in 1988. Holmes had not fought in 2 years or won a fight in 3. He had been retired but couldn't resist the big payday. I think most will agree that a prime Holmes would have done much better. A better prepared Holmes held his own with Holyfield about 4 years later. Holmes had won 6 fights in a row including a near shut out over Ray Mercer prior to his fight with Holyfield. 3 years after his loss to Holyfield he lost a very close decision to McCall for the WBC HW belt at the age of 45 1/2. Just rambling... Holmes by clear decision.
You're acting like Machen and Terrell weren't great fighters. Also, most of those losses you listed, were after he got shot (which he died from six times).

Williams was shot in late 1964... all of the losses I mentioned were before this except for the loss to Ali in 1966. After he was shot he went 4-0 (2) leading up to his fight with Ali. After Ali he went 5-0 (4) before losing a decision to Bob Cleroux in 1968. Let it go man, Williams is overrated. As for Machen and Terrell, they were good, not great.
He fought very sub par opposition after being shot though, apart from Ali. He walked with a limp after the shooting. That says it all. In hospital his weight dropped to 140lbs and his injuries were severe. He never looked even a shadow of the fighter he was in the late fifties after then.
