Both were labelled freak shows, Valuev holds a big size advantage and to me looks the better fighter. How would this battle of the giants go?

Carnera is one of the saddest stories in boxing history and how the mob controlled boxing in the 30's. Carnera was unaware for the most part and fought courageously. He was actually a pretty good boxer with a good jab. He did beat Sharkey once and despite the 11 knockdowns vs Baer, fought admirably. (Many of the knockdowns were shoves and pushes) He did connect with the chin of Baer quite a few times and never was counted out during their fight. His glaring weakness was a soft punch and a weak chin. Valuev is one of the sloppiest fighters I've ever seen. Recently Evander Holyfield was robbed in his fight with him. The guy is just a big ponderous slow moving fighter that uses his size to his advantage doing a lot of holding and hitting based on what I've observed. Strength wise, these two guys are about equal. Valuev has the power edge and a stronger chin. Carnera has the better boxing skills and better speed. Carnera would be surprised at how big Valuev is as he's so used to fighting smaller men in the ring. I see Carnera outboxing the giant but getting knocked down a few times. Each time he would get up, but he would lose those particular rounds. I believe that the last few rounds Carnera with the superior stamina would pull the fight out by split decision.

That was the better part of a decade ago dude, all the way back in 2008.

I disagree though.. Valuev could box a lot better than you're giving him credit for and certainly had the better chin here.

Carnera is no pushover. His KO on Sharkey is one of the most devastating in boxing history.

Until the Baer fight Carnera was taken very seriously indeed, and it was only the broken ankle that made him look so clownish going over so many times.

If I remember correctly the 11 knock downs were restricted to a smaller number of rounds and that primo actually won every other round.

Losing to Joe Louis was no disgrace either. Primo was no more humiliated against Louis than Sharkey or Baer.

Max Schmeling took Primo extremely seriously.

Carnera didn't win more than 3 rds.
What was the excuse for him being bombed out twice by Leroy Haynes?

Considering the way Sharkeys head flew up, I think it was kosher.

Also, his KO on Meen was a great showcase of his devastating power.

Agreed. There was also Joseph Zupan who was a 330 3/4 pounder.
He was knocked out easily. (however it should be noted he was a wrestler)

    Sharkey's wife didn't think so.
I'm sorry I didn't realise you were just trolling for a reaction until I read the underlined:good

I'm not trolling. I'm just talking about his raw power. Which you can clearly see when he knocks Meen around like a rag doll.

    Meens track record is irrelevant.

Then we disagree ,I don't think Carnera had great power, top end power or even average power.
He couldn't stop or even floor a past prime84lbs lighter Loughran whom Sharkey ,[24% ko record ,]ko'd and he couldn't dent Gains .
I think Sharkey went into the tank, and that Meen had a poor resistance to punches ,[22 stoppage losses support my view,]btw Meen was stopped on a tko he wasn't ko'd . If you think Carnera had as you stated "devasting power," we have nothing to talk about.

Ill just put these 2 questions to you .
Why does no one ,literally no one ,agree with you?
Why isn't he listed in the top 100 punchers ?
