Dont be hypocrite cobra, i am not the first one or the last that called a boxer bum( you included), of course liston would beat my **** but we are comparing him with the elite fighters in history.everything is relative

 

Liston is over rated he was good, but he is also severely hyped up. He's hyped up as a means of boosting the resume of the extremely popular Muhammad Ali. He beat good not great contenders, and beat a good not great champion. Add to that he had a very poor title reign. H e had one successful defense against Patterson and that is it. After that he quit twice against Ali once on his stool, and twice in the middle of the ring when he got dropped and decided that he had no chance. The phantom punch fight was no fix, but it was a dive. Liston knew he didn't have a chance to beat Ali and he quit with his face in the mat.

 

You thought that Liston looked like a complete bum in the first Ali (Clay) fight?

 

I agree with this. I think the hand speed and mobility gap would be insurmountable for Liston.

Williams is overrated on this forum. He gets talked about all the time like he was something special... maybe it's in an attempt to strengthen Liston's resume?

Jerry Quarry is another... although his resume is much better than Williams'.
