Charles Martin is a limited fighter who was in the right place, at the right time and he got lucky. However, the manner in which Jim Gray belittled his achievement was very petty. I was hoping James Toney would jump in the ring and finish what he threatened to do all those years ago.
yeah I thought Gray needlessly put down Charles when it didn't need to be said, Gray seemed clued out and not with it tonight imo
He didn't get lucky, he won the first, second an, and was beating him up in the third, Glazkov is worthless, he finally got in there with a legit threat, with solid punching power and took the easy way out, he was hurt, but he quit very easily. He didn't like what Martin was bringing to the table. And yes Jim Gray is an ass, I can't stand him and never have.
Lucky in the sense that he fought for a vacant title against a weak opponent. But you can only beat what is in front of you and it wasn't a knock on Martin. Gray totally rained on his parade and the entire interview revolved around Martin winning without throwing a meaningful punch. Gray exhibited a total lack of class.
I'm sure Martin felt a, little F'ed up after that interview cause he's an unknown, but he's the IBF champ. What else can be said? Gray is weird, but it's his job to be this way.
Jim Gray believes that in order to do an interview the interviewer has to be contentious, contrarian, flippant, uncouth, and a whole host of other adjectives not becoming of a reporter. I've never liked him and wish he'd be put out to pasture.
You pussies probably are the reason they invented participation medals. Martin won bc the other guy got hurt, not because of him.
He's usually an ******* during interviews. One of the exceptions was the ridiculous Decision thing with Lebron.
