More impressive win: Martin vs. Glazkov or Byrd vs. Vitali

Comparable fights. More impressive win?

 

Neither was impressive.

But at least Martin was getting the better of Glazkov and wasn't getting dominated like Byrd versus Vitali.

I don't think a case can be made for Martin winning the event. At best it was a no contest event. Martin tried to squeak out an EVT win in the post fight interview, but Jim Gray completely pulled the rug out from him. I'd even go as far as to say that it was an EVT loss for Martin.

 

Lmao. Byrd bc it wasn't a vacant championship I guess. If Martin is koed in his next fight, does that make him the worst heavyweight champ ever? That should be the thread title.

Not at all. He kept the victor of a fraud title fight in check by reminding him he is not the champ. By holding a belt Charles is essentially disrespecting all boxing fans. Gray has trolled on multiple occasions but I don't view last night as one of the many others.

Of course there was a valid point in what he was saying. But why rain on someone's parade like that after they achieved what they dreamed of. Just a scummy thing to do.

Anyone with common sense can see that Martin sort of lucked out in a sense, so why point out the obvious?

Glaskov wasn't dominating the bout in any sense and Martin would have won either way which is why I wrote "lucked out in a sense".

 

They are not comparable fights. Martin was pressing the action and appeared to be in a favorable position while Byrd was losing a shutout and was hopeless at the time of the stoppage.

 

No, Byrd was not losing a shutout, that's one of the biggest myths on this forum. Vitali was hitting nothing but air that night, I've seen scorecards on here give it a draw or even a close fight for Byrd.

Glazkov - Martin was, for all intents and purposes, an even fight that hadn't had the chance to heat up. I'm a much bigger fan of Martin than Glazkov, but let's be honest here: most of the talk of Martin dominating or commanding that fight was because practically everone likes Martin better and it was time, karma-cly speaking, for Glazkov to have one go against him for once.

Byrd gets the nod from me because it was a better opponent and he stuck around long enough to where we got to see a match.
